I know what I got today

Now, Aaron as soon as the first manna fell, God told Aaron and Moses, "Go out there and pick up several omer's full of it and put it back in the holiest of holies, that when your children children, all that come into the priesthood, will get a taste of the original manna." Oh, what a privilege when a man become a priest... Now, remember outside of the holiest of holies, that was the only one that kept. It wouldn't keep twenty-four hours. It got worms in it. That's what's the matter with the Pentecostal church today. Amen. What's the matter? The experience you had a year ago has got wiggletails in it today; get rid of the thing, let's have one now. You know what them little termites or whatever it is wiggles around in them, broken cisterns, stagnated water... I know what I had yesterday. I know what I got today. Hallelujah. I'm looking for more of it. Lord, fill my soul every day. Yes, sir.

That's God's control tower

Share
When God made a man, he gave him... He let... The devil took his head. God chose his heart. The devil through his imagination makes him imagine anything--gives him intellectual conceptions of the Scripture. But God gets in his heart and leads him by the Spirit; makes him believe things that his intellectual don't know nothing about. Amen! That makes me feel a little religious when I think of that, see. When God gets a hold of a man, he comes into his heart. That's God's control tower. And the reason people drink, smoke, gamble, lie, steal, and carry on the way they do, they're trying to satisfy that longing in their heart. God made them that way, so He could come in there and satisfy every longing that you have. But, how dare anybody to try to hush that precious thing with the things of the world?

It's going to work some good thing for us

And sometimes we have more troubles when we become a Christian than we did when we were sinners. 'Course it is written, "Many is the afflictions of the righteous, but God delivereth him from them all." God promised many afflictions, strange feelings, and strange things that would be beyond our understanding, but it's always done for our good. Just can't understand it, because if we did, then it would not be of faith to us; we would go with an understanding. But we do it, and we have it, and we believe by faith His Word, that it's going to work some good thing for us.

We don't know, how it got there

Oh, what happened? Now, they were shut up. "No revival's going to happen here. Our denomination won't sponsor such. We'll not have that kind of nonsense among us. I forbid any of you to go to that meeting." Jericho, right in the line of the damned... But there must've been some tape boys slipped in somewhere, for the predestinated seed. They slipped over to her house and played some tapes. She made her--her own house a church to receive the messages. (They still got them, you know.) The message got to the predestinated seed anyhow. We don't know how it got there, but it got there, so that the just will not perish with the unjust. God's seeing to that today. Some way it slips in. They don't know how, though they won't sponsor it; but there is some seed out there that's predestinated.

Then He seals it

When the Inspector goes through to inspect your life to see if you're not just a little loose about things, little loose about your prayer life, little loose about that temper, little loose about that tongue to talk about others; He'll never seal the car. Some dirty habits, some vile things, some vulgarity mind, He can't seal the car. But when He's found everything in its place (the Inspector), then He seals it. Dare be anybody open that seal until that car's reached its destination to where it's sealed for. There it is.

He can take something, that's nothing...

Why God picked on little Bethlehem, and then did not choose these greater cities...?... They had greater names, and more of a spiritual background. But, you know, God has a way of doing things, just His Own way about things. I'm so glad He does. See? Sometimes He takes things that doesn't have a spiritual background, or doesn't have any background at all. And that's why He is God; He can take something that's nothing, and make something out of it. And then that's what makes Him God. That's what makes us love Him. That's what makes us poor people appreciate Him, because that even though we, poor, with no background, yet God can do great things with us if He ever gets us under His control.

The Christmas Story

Share
107. Oh, I read a story, come to my mind not long ago of something on that order. There'd been a great city here in this nation, and... New York. And it was on Christmas eve. And there was a poor family, little old daddy, he had TB, and he was--and his wife had TB. They had been underprivileged, and he--he was kinda... He was weakly and so nobody would hire him. He had no education, and he--he... People didn't want him.
He just was an outcast, become a tramp. Just... You know what a tramp is, just go by and--and pick up something, and peddle it and get what you can; what little royalty they make on it, they try to live by it. Just a, like a peddler or something, on the street; go buy some pins and needles and thimbles, and whatever they can. And--and take it, and--and maybe buy for a penny a pack, and sell them for a nickel; and make four cents on the pack, and maybe in the run of a day. You say, "That's--that's a great commission." But just think, all he'd sell in a day. Maybe he made twenty, thirty cents a day, and he had a family.

110. And the--the little wife, being weakly, she--she died. And it was coming Christmas time. And the little girl, she had developed, from malnutrition, not having the right food and thing; she took TB, also. And she was a little fellow, and about eight, nine years old, ten. And she'd never had a doll for Christmas. And that's what she wanted for a gift, was a doll.
And the father, not able to give her medical attention and so forth, and he--he seen the little girl was going fast, and he tried his best to--to--to--to get enough money together to get her a doll for Christmas; if he could just get enough to buy her a little doll. And so the Christmas time was coming on; the bad weather set in; the little girl developed some kind of a pneumonia; and--and, my, just a few weeks before Christmas. And the father, of course, broken-hearted, he went to his little tin can and got the money out. And he thought of his little girl, and she wanted a--a doll like little girls. See, it's a little mother coming on.

112. You notice how a little girl, she goes to a doll, because she... That's her nature, she's a--she's a coming mother. She will be mother someday if she lives and everything. You know, her nature. That's the reason a little girl likes a little doll, she wants to take care of it; 'cause after all, she--she's a little, potentially, a--a--a little mother.
And she wanted a little doll, and she'd never had one. And Daddy had saved everything he could to--to get her a little doll. And, so, she died.
And the father kinda had a lapse of mind. His wife had been taken, his little girl, and his mind kinda got to a place till he --he... Still he'd--he'd go to bed every night and talk to this little girl, though she was--been buried. But he thought he was--he was talking to her, and telling her, "Now, honey, it won't be long, and daddy's going to get you this dolly for Christmas. And--and daddy's promised you the dolly, and I--I'm--I'm going to get it."

115. Finally, Christmas arrived. And, 'course, you know how it is. The rich had their--their big parties; and the candles burning, and the great high masses in the churches, and talking about Jesus and--and so forth (the churches were), and going through all kind of a routines and mass, and singing, and carols and everything. Little did they know what was going on back in the alley, behind all this.
This little fellow back there; he got beside himself. He wanted that little girl to have that doll so bad, 'cause she had begged so for this little doll. So he went out, and he bought her a little rag doll, a little--a little thing, probably about thirty cents, a little dirty something he'd bought, down on the side of the street. And it was a real cold night, the--the--the blizzard winds a-blowing, the snow a-falling hard there, in New York, right on the coast.

117. And the streets filling up; and the people in their great big limousine cars. And drunken parties, out drinking, the celebration of the birth of Christ and of these things that we speak of tonight, trying to think that that's the right way to do it; just drink off their old sorrows and things, and that that's the way to do it. All of them...
Stand in the store, the other day, and a woman talking about what... Two girls met and they wanted to know what they got for their daddy. And one of them said, "Well, he..." She got him a carton of certain kind of cigarettes. And the other one said she got him a fifth of whiskey and a--and a--and a deck of cards. Now, if that ain't giving a memorial gift for the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. And that's the way it goes (You see?); it's just a big bunch of tinsel. It hasn't got Christmas in it at all.

119. And so we find now, this little man, he wandered along. And he knowed in his heart his little girl was gone, but he went and bought the doll anyhow. And he thought, "I'll just start walking; I'll find her somewhere. She'll be along the street here and I'll find her." And he started walking.
He--he couldn't fool himself, she wasn't back there in the little shanty, in the little, ragged, dirty bed; but she was buried. So he--he knew, He thought he'd find her on the street. He said, "I'll just keep walking." And he was going down through the alleys, while they were singing their carols and going on. And going down the alley, a-packing this little, dirty doll; holding it in his coat, up to his heart, thinking of his little girl.

121. And finally a policeman happened to see him, and the policeman had a few drinks himself, and he ran into the alley and grabbed the old man and turned him around. He said, "What are you doing hanging here?"
He said, "I'm taking this little doll, sir, to my little girl."
He said, "Well, where do you live?" And he told him where he lived. He said, "Well, you're going away from that place; you're drunk. Go back the other way."
Said, "Sir, I'm--I'm not drunk. I promised my little girl I'd--I'd get her a gift for Christmas." And said, "An appropriate gift for a little girl is a little doll."
And he said, "Let me see it." So he showed him a little, dirty like, rag doll. And he was holding it in his--next to his bosom, holding the little doll as he... So the policeman, half drunk, himself, shoved him on and started him down. The old man went down the alley, and snow falling fast.

126. And, well, the midnight parties broke up. The next morning the snow had let up; the sun had come out. And so they was... All the people from their great gaiety parties with ice sacks on their heads, from too much drinking and celebration of the--the birth of Christ. And--and many of them were hoarse from carrying on, from all the going-on.
But way down in the alley, they found the old man. And when they turned him over, he had the little doll next to his heart. I suppose he took his gift to her. He found her in a land not here. He--he--he took the gift. It was an appropriate gift. (God, merciful.) Yet it cost him his death. There's no other way in the world he could've give her the gift; she was buried. But don't the only way you do it would be go like that... The little doll didn't mean too much, I guess, the little dirty-faced doll, but it... What did he do it? It fulfilled a promise he had made. No matter what the people thought about it, his dirty hands on a little, dirty doll, but it--it fulfilled a promise to his little girl.

128. Sometimes they look upon the Gospel as singing, playing, they didn't want it when God brought It, but it fulfilled a promise that He would give His Son. And you know what? They left Him to die too just like a tramp on the street. That's exactly right, they've left Him to die like a tramp on the street. And today they treat Him like a tramp on the street, but He fulfilled what He was supposed to do. He was the Gift that God promised to the world.
Tonight, let me take Him as my Saviour in my heart. Let me walk in the face of my death, or whatever it is, like that. I promised my life to Him. I'm want to take it to Him. No matter what I have to go, if I have to go through death, if I have to be shot; no matter what takes place, I have to be laughed at, called crazy, everything, excommunicated from the rest of the Christian churches and so forth, I... It's a gift of God that I hold in my heart. He give it me, I want to take it to Him. Let us bow our heads just a moment...?...

The love of mother

Share
61. ...Here sometime ago, I was coming from Dallas. I was flying across home. I got in a storm up here over Memphis, the big plane come down, the TWA, and landed there. He put me in the Peabody Hotel. I couldn't afford to stay in there now. They put me in there for that night. And the next morning they called me, and said, "Be down at the--at the airport at seven o'clock. The limousine will pick you up. Fixing to close now, listen close. "To pick you up at seven o'clock."

62. I said, "All right." Or they'll pick me up so I can be there at seven. Next morning I got up real early, 'cause I'd come out from a meeting. I had some letters I'd wrote that night, and I thought, "I'll mail these first. The limousine will be along after awhile." So I walked out, and I said to the fellow, "Which way to the post office?"

63. He said, "Straight ahead, down that way." And I went out, started down there, I was going down the road singing: I...

They're gathered in the upper room,
All praying in His name,
Baptized with the Holy Ghost,
And power for service came;
Oh, what He did for them that day
He'll do for you the same,
I'm so glad that I can say I'm one of them.

Walking along down the street like that, singing it in my heart, all at once, Something said, "Stop."
I thought, "That just impressed me"
I said:

Oh come, my brother, seek this blessing
That'll cleanse your heart from sin,

Something said, "Stop." There was a lot of fishing tackle there in the store. I got back in this place, so I could look at the fishing tackle so nobody'd watch me on the street, busy right in there.
And I got back in the corner; I said, "Heavenly Father, was that You speaking to me?" I kept real quiet.
Said, "Turn and go back, and keep walking."

64. You believe in being led by the Spirit of God? I turned, started walking back, walked on passed the hotel, just kept on walking. I looked at my watch, already seven. I missed the limousine. On down, on down, till I come way down there, in a little colored district, where there's colored people. Sun was way up high. I thought, "Oh, I'll miss my plane. But Something just keeps telling me to walk." So I just kept on walking. That's the way. Don't question God. Do what He tells you to do. So I just kept on walking. And after while I looked laying across the gate, and there was a typical old Aunt Jemima, with a man's shirt tied around her head. She was... tears running down her cheeks. And I passed by. She said, "Good morning, Parson."
And I said, "Good morning, Auntie," walked on by.
I said, "Well, how... She said, 'Parson.'"
I turned back, I said, "Pardon me, a minute, Auntie." I said, "You called me a parson."
She said, "Yes, sir."
And I said, "How did you know I was a parson?"
She said, "I knowed you was coming."
And I said, "You knew I was coming?"
Said, "Yes, sir."
And she said, "I've been standing here since four o'clock."
I looked on her. I said, "Well, bless your heart." She was wet on the back yet.
Said, "Yes, sir, I've been standing here." Said, "Did you ever read the story about the Shunammite woman?"
And I said, "Yes, ma'am."
Said, "I's that kind of woman." She said, "And I promised the Lord, if He'd give me a baby, I'd raise it for Him." And said, "He give me a fine boy."

65. And she said, "Parson, I raised that boy, but when he got to be a man," said, "a young man, he got with some wrong company. And he done wrong." And said, "He got a bad disease, a venereal disease." And said, "He's in there dying." And said, "Two days, he's been unconscious. The doctor man says there's no hope." Said, "We's good family here; we never thought of anything like that." And said, "He's dying," and said, "he's backslid." And she said, "Parson, I just can't stand to know my baby's dying without knowing the Lord Jesus."
And I said, "What?" mother love.
She said, "I prayed for two days." And said, "This morning, about three o'clock, I--I was dreaming. And I dreamed I was talking to the Lord. And I said, 'Lord, where is Your Elisha?'" And said, "I seen a man coming with a gray suit on with a little bitty semi-western hat." That's the way I was dressed.

66. Said, He said, "Just wait." And said, "I walked right out here, and been standing here ever since. I knowed you were coming." Said, "Now, I seen you coming." Said, "I thought, 'Lord, You stop him. I won't have to say a thing.'"
Now, with all that, the Holy Spirit telling me to walk, all that in my heart, I thought, "This must be it, Lord." Then about eight...
I--I said, "Well, Auntie," I said, "My name is Branham."
She said, "I's to glad to know you, Parson Branham."
I said, "Did you ever hear of me?"
Said, "No, sir, I don't believe I ever did."
I said, "My ministry is praying for the sick." I don't think she was a long them lines. But she said, "No, sir, I never did hear of you."
And I said, "The--the Holy Spirit had me walking down this way."
She said, "Won't you come in?"
And I went in. They had an old whitewashed fence, and a plow point hanging on the gate. When I walked in to that little old colored room where the colored people live, there wasn't nothing there, but a little... No rug on the floor, just wood like this, and a little old poster bed, but a sign hanging on the wall, 'God bless our home.'" I'd rather have that than all the pin ups, or anything else, that you could put in. That's shows that was a Christian home.

67. Great big fine boy there, has about--looked like about eighteen, had the blanket in his hand, going... [Brother Branham makes a grunting sound--Ed.] "It's dark. It's dark here."
I said, "What's the matter with him, can't he talk?"
Said, "No, he has been unconscious," said, "two days." Said, "He thinks he's out on a big deep sea, and he's in a darkness and lost." The tears running down her big old fat cheeks, she said, "That's it, parson. I can't to stand to hear my baby die, and have that on my heart the rest of my days, that my baby was lost."

68. And I thought, "Baby?" Weigh a hundred and eighty pound. Now, but, that was a mother's love. No matter what he done, he was still baby. He was still her loving child. I looked at her. I couldn't hardly choke back the tears, looking at her. And I said, "Is he very bad?"
Said, "He's dying, parson." Said, "The doctor man said, 'Don't call him no more. He's gone.'"
I felt his feet, real sticky. Now, I don't say, I... Felt like, you how a person gets that real cold sticky? And his feet felt cold. I said, "Well, I guess maybe he is."
So then, she... He just kept pulling this... And so, I said, "Will, you... Let us pray then, Auntie."
And she got down there, looked over at me, and I got at the foot of the bed and held the boy by the feet. I said, "Auntie, will you lead us in prayer?"
She said, "Yes, parson." Oh, brother, you talk about a prayer. I just cried like a baby. To hear that old saint, and it was just quiet and cool, said, "Lord God." She said, "Last night when You spoke to me Your poor handsmaid, in the dream, and told me that this parson was coming, I knowed that my baby is going to speak to me, and say he's saved before he goes." And she was talking like that, the tears running down both of our cheeks then. When she got through praying, she reached down and got her apron, wiped her tears. And she said, "Now, will you pray, parson?"

69. I said, "Yes, ma'am." I put my hands over on the boy, I said, "God, my plane's gone; I--I--I don't know why. But You told me to walk." This must be the case. I pray, God, that You'll be merciful to this boy, somehow the sovereign love of this woman praying for her baby, You brought me down here."
Just then I hear him going... [Brother Branham makes a moaning sound--Ed.] Saying, "Oh, mammy."
She said, "Yes, honey."
Said, "It's getting light around here now." Said, "I'm nearing the shore." In a few minutes he was sitting up on the bed.
About six months from then, I was going down, somewhere in the South. I went in on a train. They want about seventy-five cents for a hamburger on the train. I get them for about fifteen cents there at the station. I just waited till they pulled in the...?... and as you get off the train, you know how you walk up to that little restaurant. I was going walking along there that morning. I'd got on at Louisville that night. And started down there, and I heard somebody say, "Hello, Parson Branham."

70. And I looked around, there stood a little Red cap out there. Said, "How are you, Parson Branham?"
I said, "Howdy do, son." I said, "How did you know me?"
He said, "You don't know me, do you?" Said, "You remember that morning, that--that you come down to pray for me? My mammy here, you know, had been waiting at the gate waiting for you."
I said, "Are you the boy?"
Said, "Yes, sir, Parson Branham." Said, "I's---I's not only healed," but said, "I's a Christian now." What was it?
That morning when I got back to my plane, I jumped in a cab as soon as I left that house, and got back, run to the station to see what train, what plane I could get next. They said, "Last call," for this certain plane. God, by the love of that poor, ignorant colored woman, had a love for God and her baby, had grounded a plane and held it there. Hallelujah.
When love is projected, sovereign grace steps in and takes its place. God knew His gift. God knowed what would happen. God had selected this to be so. And the love of that mother had held... The love of that poor ignorant colored woman, probably didn't know her ABC's, but she knowed the love of God, that's what grounded that airplane and held it three hours.
When I got on, I said, "What happened, hostess?"
She said, "Oh, there was something happened, somewhere something..."
Oh, sure, I thought, "Well, I know it was." It happened in glory. Amen.

71. I tell you, brother, there's nothing like the love of God. Do you love Him tonight? Is He your Saviour?

How much greater thing can grace produce

Share
I have, just was teaching today in a home where I was invited out for dinner. They wanted to know if they would know their loved ones, when they met them in Glory. "Why," I said, "certainly we will know them." See. We--we are in a--we're--have three different bodies we dwell in: One is a human; the other is the celestial; and the other is the glorified. And then if we know one another in the human body, the mortal body, how much more will we know each other in a glorified body? It's like if the law could produce a good thing, how much greater thing can grace produce, because it's greater than the law. And if the moon can produce a certain part of light, how much more will the sun outshine it when it comes. And we'll certainly know each other.

His Word made flesh again in us

We are living images of a living God. Then dead to self, raised with Him (Now, listen, listen to this.), His Word made flesh again in us. (O Brother Neville...) Look. What is it? Not the mythical, imaginary god setting out there, but the living God... What is the living God? The Word in you making Itself real. Whew. Glory to God. Oh, I know you think I'm a holy-roller. Maybe I am. But, oh, brother, do you see it? Triumph over every denomination, triumph over all paganism, a living God made manifest in a living temple. And the Word of God, which is God, is made flesh in you. Why? You're seated in heavenly places, triumphed over all things in Christ Jesus.

"Mountain, be moved."

Share
When you said, "Mountain, be moved," and it still stands there, you say, "Well, it didn't happen?" Oh, it did happen. When you said, "Mountain, move," maybe one little significant grain of sand turned loose out of the hundreds of billions and billions of tons. One little grain moved, but it's begin to take place. Hold that faith and watch that mountain disappear. Certainly. Thou shall say in thy heart, "Disease, move from my child. Disease, move from my body in the Name of the Lord Jesus," and don't doubt. Right there the good germs take on a new armor and a new weapon, and the enemy begins to back up. He's defeated because Christ, in the drinking of His myrrh at Calvary, defeated the devil and every one of his powers.

There's something in him that takes care of him

A hybrid plant, you have to baby it, and spray it, and keep the bugs and beetles off of it, but not a genuine healthy plant. He's sturdy, strong. Don't no bugs come on him. He's got enough in him to throw the bug off. So is a genuine Christian. You don't have to baby him, and pat him, and tell him this, that, or the other. He's got something in him (the baptism of the Holy Ghost) that throws all the rest of it off. You don't have to beg him around, because he's a genuine plant of God. He's got something in him that wars. A Christian fights for every inch of ground he stands on. He must do that if he ever expects to exist. And by doing it, there's something in him that takes care of him. Eve tried to hybrid the Word. In the beginning God told her, "The day you eat thereof, that day you die." She tried to breed it in with knowledge that Satan give her. And when she did, she lost the whole human race right there to the devil, when she tried to mix God's unadulterated Word with knowledge. It doesn't come from the knowledge of the world. It comes by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Only faith in God

Share
Now, friends, there's only one way in the world that you can be healed, and that's only faith in God. Now, no matter how much that God will permit me, by my own faith, to take the spirit from you, unless you go forth and believe God, and serve God, and trust God, it'll come right back to you again. Did not Jesus say, "Go and sin no more, or a worse thing than this will come upon you?" Don't never come in a prayer line unless you expecting to serve God the rest of your days. That's right. Always, don't never live a sinful life, because you'll be worse, way worse. God has promised that you will be worse off than you was at the first time.

'Cause God had a program...

Share
God dwelling in Christ used His voice to speak by. Jesus said in His miracle, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing in Himself, but what He sees the Father doing, that doeth the Son likewise." Is that right? Saint John 5:19. Then He did not do nothing within Himself. No prophet ever did anything within himself, until first God showed what to do. What a mistake Moses made when he went out without the vision of God and smote down the Egyptian, thought he'd liberate them with his hands, because he thought he had a lot of faith and could do it, because he was called for the job. No matter how much you're called for the job, God has to do the leading. See? He failed of all of his schooling and his military mind and his training as a great Egyptian leader. But yet it failed, 'cause God had a program and we've got to work according to God's program. No matter what we do, how smart we are, we've got to humble ourselves and work according to God's program. Amen.

Too much scrupled up. He's got to get one man completely surrendered and use that person. He searches for that person, but there will be one sometime, somebody who will listen to Him word by word. I don't care what anybody else says, they'll never move from it. That's right. They'll wait on, THUS SAITH THE LORD, and then--they won't move until then. He will be properly a-vindicated. You'll... Now, the outside world will hate it, but the elected seed, the predestinated seed, like there was in the days of Jesus, when that Light flashes, that seed will come to Life like that. They'll know it. It'll understand it. You won't have to say a word about it.

That's what makes Him great to me

Share
So few of professed Christians today in our land knows so little about God. Oh, they know all their religions, but to know God. Humbled Himself, and that's what makes Him great to me. That's what makes Him real to me is to think that He was willing to come down here and not be some great somebody, take some great name, or something like that. He made Himself humble and become a servant to all of them. That's my Lord Jesus. That's the One I love; that's the One, I'm--want to give my life entirely to serve Him, and to work for Him, and do everything I can to get people to look at Him, and believe Him, and love Him. He's lovely. He's precious. Becoming a footwasher, taking the towel and girded Himself and washed the disciples' feet, said, "Let him that's great among you be the servant of all." That was His example.

It'll make you different

Share
God has a new birth for you. But listen to His still small voice. Every one of you people who profess to be Christians, get yourself quiet before Him. Don't let the washing hinder. Don't let the work hinder. Don't let nothing hinder. Don't let nobody know what you're doing. Just go before Him. Get up in the woods somewhere. Get out on the side of the road. Go into the secret closet and close the door, when the kids gets at school. There get down on your knees. You've heard all kinds of voices everywhere. But just get down and stay there until those voices are silenced and you begin to lift up. It'll change you. It'll make you different like it did this little Samuel. It'll do something to you if you'll just do it. Now, it'll make you what you should be. It'll make you the kind of Christian that you ought to be.

It's a unconscious faith

Share
16. We... Only thing we can do is accept and be grateful for what He has already done for us. Oh, that's so simple isn't it. And I'm positive that many times in people's thinking, that they try to make Divine healing and so forth, some great outreaching something, way away, "If I could only reach it."
Could you imagine Jesus saying, "Now, let Me check My faith, and see if I've got enough faith to do this, see if I'll have to fast awhile to see if I'll have enough faith to do this." He was perfectly unconscious of the faith that He had. He just spoke it and knew that it would be so.

17. Just like you come from your homes today, you probably want to return to your home, told your wife or your loved ones, "I'll be back sometime right after noon." How do you know you are? You don't try to wonder, "Have I got faith enough to go home? Have I got faith enough to drive my car? You just unconsciously turn your key on, drive on away and go home. See? It's a unconscious faith that does it. That's the way it is: in Christ we just unconsciously just say, "That's His word; that just settles it; there's no more to it." and go on. That's how we get well.

Share
And God has His program, and He will set you and place you in Christ, just where He thinks you'll work best for Him, if you'll just stay in your calling. Don't try to get somebody else's calling. Stay in your own calling. If you're a housewife, remain a housewife. Whatever God's called you to do, just remain there. He knows where to put His hand on you and use you. He had a little, old woman named Hannah, one time, little housewife. He knowed where to place her, what He was going to do with her. He had one named Mary, one time. Oh, my, He will just do with you whatever He wants to do, if you'll just let Him do it. Just be humble, submit yourself to Him, and walk on.

That's the message of this day

Share
He won't recognize nothing but that covenant of the Holy Spirit. And you cannot receive that covenant, unless you are saved, sanctified, and then baptized into the Body. He will not... You might have an impersonation; you might feel good; and jump up-and-down, and speak in tongues, and dance in the Spirit. That don't have one thing to do with it. Hear it, in the Name of the Lord. God don't recognize that. Heathens do that. Witches do that. You say, "I'm a scholar. I do this, that, or the other." He don't care how much scholar you are. The devil is too. See? He only recognizes the--the Token. That's the message of the hour. That's the message of this day. That's the message of this time. In the Name of Jesus Christ, receive it.

Now, remember, these people enjoyed them blessings. They enjoyed the preaching of this prophet, this anointed one. They believed him. They followed him. But there arose up in the wilderness, one by the name of--of Dathan and one by the name of Korah. And they said, "This has got to be a one-man affair. Moses thinks he's the only one God's called." That one-man message, they didn't want it. No, they didn't want It. And God never did deal but with one person at a time. It's always a one-man message. When did ever He deal with the people, outside of just one person? It's an individual. It ain't a group. You're responsible to God, each one of you. You say, "Oh, I believe it." You just... What you do, you just entertain it. You entertain a thought.

How can you lose?

Share
God's working all things together for the good to them that love Him, and how can you lose? You just can't lose; there's no way of losing. The Church could just really find that out. If you could positionally find your place in Christ, then all these other things would just fade away like a shadow. Every one that cometh to God, that's true, must have the shadows, and temptations, and fears, and so forth, but just don't get all tore up about it. What's a little suffering for a little while, knowing that the glory of God will be revealed in the last days when Jesus comes, when we'll be made like unto Him? He's just working everything together. Did you know, maybe if you were sick, or something happened to you, that God might've had to do that just to bring you a little closer to Him?

What the Father must think...

Share
Sheep love sheep food. And scavengers love scavenger's food. Buzzards eat buzzards food. And if you love the things of the world, that shows the love of God is not even in you. And the biggest hypocrite there is in the world is a crow. A dove and a crow, they set on the same pole, perhaps, in the ark. Now, the dove can only eat one kind of food, because a dove is one bird who does not have a gall. It can't digest rotten things. And a real borned again saint of God doesn't have anything to do with the things of the world, 'cause he hasn't got any gall any more. He doesn't go around fussing with a chip on his shoulder, wanting to debate and argue about something. But an old crow can set on an old dead carcass and eat for two hours and fly right out in the field and eat wheat with the dove. But a dove can't eat wheat and then eat the carcass. See the hypocrite? That's where the church has got. It's exactly right. What the Father must think...

You might be filled with a bunch of creeds. You might be filled with a bunch of denominations. But God don't want you filled with that. God made a place in there to put Himself in. God wants you to be filled with Himself. What takes place when you're filled with God? When you're filled with God, you're filled with the Holy Ghost, you're filled with power, you're filled with love, with joy, with peace, with longsuffering, with goodness, with meekness, with gentleness, with worship. You're filled with joy. David said, "My cup runneth over." And if David had a cup running over before the Holy Ghost come, what would it be now? You're filled with something.

And you can no more die than God can die

Share
Think of it. God, on the day of Pentecost, that Pillar of Fire separated and tongues of fire set upon each of them, God separating Himself in--dividing Himself, amongst His people. We become God's own Life in us. Then we are dead to the things of the world, and have risen with Christ and setting in heavenly places, looking back to where we come from. It's enough that we could think of that. And it lets off the pressure, takes the pressure away when we recognize the position that we now hold in Christ by receiving the Holy Spirit--God's own Life (The Greek word "Zoe" which means God's own Life.) dwelling in you. And you can no more die than God can die. We're eternal with the eternal (Amen.), waiting for that glorious time of redemption of the body. And now we are already dead, and our lives are hid in God through Christ and sealed by the Holy Spirit. The devil is out of the picture altogether.

A word is a thought expressed

Share
Remember, a word is a thought expressed. God thought it. Then when He expressed it, it has to happen, for the world was framed by the Word of God. And things were made out of things that do not appear. It was God's Word. He thought it, and He spoke it, and it has to come to pass. It's a seed that's growing, and, marvelously, that has to bring forth its season. We can take His Word, and see that He promised in the last days that He'd draw this people out; and do the very same thing He did, like He did in the days of Sodom. And we look at it and see these things. We ought to take a hold of the promise of God, and come to Him, seeing that we've anchored our souls in this haven of rest.

God always bears witness. Your life will bear witness. I don't know what your testimony is, but your life speaks so loud, your voice can't be heard. What your--your living, your every day life will testify what you are. God bears witness. Yes, the Holy Spirit is a Seal, and a seal takes both sides of the paper. They see you standing here and see you when you go away, not only in church but at every day work. You're sealed on both sides: inside and outside. By the joy that you have and by the Life that you live, you're sealed in and outside. But you know you're saved, and the world knows you're saved by the life that you live, for God bears witness. Blessed be His Holy Name.

You've got to believe it

Share
What do you think that God would do today when the Holy Spirit comes and tell Him that in our churches that we've accepted dogmas instead of His Word? What do you think, we accept creeds instead of Christ? What do you think He does when our--when He comes up and says that His daughters has all bobbed off their hair, wearing shorts, smoking cigarettes? That's the... The Bible said such can't enter. To misbelieve... You say, "It don't make any difference." Don't you let the devil tell you that. If God said so... Paul said in here in Galatians 1:8, "If a angel from heaven preaches any other Gospel than this that I have preached, let him be accursed." Why did it make so much difference? Even the little thing of Lot's wife even turning, looking over her shoulder, and turned to a pillar of salt. You've got to take the Word. There's a let down somewhere. You've got to get back to the Gospel, back to Christ, back to the living Word, not bypass it for some something this way. You've got to believe it.

For it's every bit truth

Share
I like something that's got some courage. I just despise a coward. Don't you? Someone who's afraid... Stand up there. If you got the right stuff behind you; stand for what you think is right. Be not only willing to live for it, die for it, or anything. If it's right, it's right. Other men has died for what's right.
And so, that's the way with the Gospel. If I didn't think it was right, and I didn't believe He was the Son of God, I'd be against Him. I'd be out here saying everything I could against Him, because I wouldn't think it was right. But I know He's right. And so therefore I'm... I believe it with all my heart.
And if--and if just part of this is right, and the rest of it's not right, then it--it's none of it right. It's either all right or all wrong. And every word is true. You can hang your soul on any phase of the Gospel and believe it; for it's every bit truth.

You can take a orange tree...

Share
If the first branch of the vine brought forth a Pentecostal church, every real branch out of that vine will bring forth another Pentecostal church. But we got a lot of grafted branches, and they bring forth after their kind. We got Methodist branch grafted into it, Baptist branch, Pentecostal branch, every other kind of branch. It bears its own fruit.
You can take a orange tree and put a grapefruit in it. It'll live off the life of that tree, but it'll bear grapefruit. Put a lemon in there, it'll bear lemon, not an orange, yet it's living off of orange life. See, any citrus fruit...
Any church professing to be Christian thrives off of the glory and praises of Christ. But it can't bear the fruit. It won't bear the Life of Christ until Christ puts forth that branch Himself. Then it'll--it'll write another Book of Acts behind it (that's right), because it is the acts of the Holy Spirit in the church. See? That's the way it is tonight, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.

If I've got Eternal Life...

Share
I've often said if I can be a young man of twenty-five years old, if God would appear on the platform tonight, and say, "I will turn you to twenty-five years of age. There you'll remain for a million years, and I'll make you the king over all the universe. Everything will be at your command. Or I'll give you a hundred years of misery and woe, and trouble, and sorrow, but at the end of that hundred years, I'll give you Eternal Life. But the end of the million years, you are lost."
Oh, I'd say, "Lord God, I don't have to wait any longer to make my choice. Let me have the hundred years of misery and woe, any kind of a death that you choose for me to die, only, Lord, give me Eternal Life. For though I own the whole world and was king for a million years, at the end of that million years, I become a hell bound creature for eternity. But no matter how bad my lot is here, at the end of my life, if I've got Eternal Life, I live on in the blessed Presence of God forever and forever."

To just misquote one word of It caused all...

That's the reason that I believe that the Word is the Truth. If our creeds and our denominations doesn't come completely with the Word, then it's wrong. And if God would not permit, and His Word was so important, to just misquote one word of It caused all, every death that ever happened, every suffering, every crying baby, every funeral procession, every grave on the hillside, every ambulance that ever screamed, every blood that was ever shed, all the old age and starvation and trouble that we've had, just because God's Word was miscalculated, caused all of this, will He excuse it at the end time if we miscalculate It again?

And that's one thing that has hurt our Pentecostal move and other moves, is somebody trying to be something that they're not. They are trying to impersonate someone else. You can't do that. You're just what you are; that's all. And when you do that, God will use you in just what you are. And you're just as important as anybody else.
As I said the other night, the little bitty hair spring in this watch is just as important as the mainspring, 'cause it takes it all together to make time. And that... Any man and his message is one

Share
The Message--the Message and the Word was exactly the same thing. The prophet, the Word, the Message; messenger, Message, and man was the same. Jesus said, "If I do not the works that's written of Me, then don't believe Me." That's good. Any man and his message is one.
That's why today that they do not believe in doing the works of God, because they do not accept the Message of God. They don't believe the Message.
But those who believe God's hour that we're living in, these things are hidden food. Just think. God has so hid it that they look right at it and don't see it. The same way that Elijah blinded the Syrian army, the same way that God blinds the unbeliever from the true genuine Food of the child, the believer.

If you see a brother...

Share
87. Listen here now. Now, we're going on.

Let us hold fast our profession of our faith without wavering; (he is faithful who hath promised;)

And let us consider one another to provoke one another unto love and to good works:

88. "Provoke" there means "to encourage." Encourage one another unto love and to good works. If you see a brother in the church, that's got something against the other brother, don't say something to stir that thing up, but say something that'll bring them together. Provoke one another unto good works and to love, is what we must do. What is that? That's a man that's born again.
If you, my brother, tonight, don't feel that way when you see your brothers falling out, and sharp words between one another, if you don't feel like bringing them together, it's your time to go to the altar. That's right. There's something happened in your life. There is something you've been deceived in. You haven't the experience that God wants you to have. For Jesus, when He was reviled, He reviled not again. And was spoken evil of, He spoke not back again. And when He... When they done evil to Him, He turned and did good to them. When they persecuted Him and nailed Him to the cross, He looked down and said, "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they're doing."
If that kind of Spirit's not in you, the Holy Ghost has never entered you yet, for that was the same Spirit was on Christ Jesus. The Bible said, "Let It be in you." Christ is in His Church.

92. Now, Branham Tabernacle, you bunch here, we don't have any organization, don't have any--any sign cards, or so forth. The only thing we have here is fellowship. And you who are fellowshipping in Jesus Christ with us tonight, and fellowshipping every night and every time, we're always happy to have you here. We want you to be here. You don't have to join us. We... Only thing you have to do is come worship with us. And we expect every one of you to hold the true mystery of God in your heart, without wavering. Come to the worship and come to the altar and so forth, and love one another, and be in harmony with one another.
And if you see a brother getting out of the way, go to him, and be reconciled with him if you can. That's right. That's what we got to do. And, friends, if you ever... What are you doing? If you don't do that, you're only making yourself a miserable creature and not a Christian. That's right. And all that you're doing is in vain.
Didn't Jesus say, "In vain you worship Me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of man?"
Say, "Well, I joined the church. I put my name on the book. I did these things." That don't have one thing to do with it.
"Except a man be born of water and Spirit, he will in no wise enter the Kingdom."

Faith finds a way

Share
But you know, faith always finds a way to do it, like the Syrophenician woman. Faith finds a way to touch Him. If you don't believe it, you get to praying right now, and see if your faith don't find a way to touch Him. Faith finds the way. And after while...

Reminds me of--of Abraham Lincoln. They'd shut him out, great man. He said, "How you going to get in?"
He said, "I'm going to trust God."
Said, "They're going to close the doors in your face."
He said, "I'll still trust God."
So when all the senators answered... They was going throw him out on this measure that they was trying to vote against. And so... They knowed Abraham Lincoln was for it. He had such a pressure, and such a--a status before the people that he could put his point over. And they wouldn't let him in the door.
And when they got up and begin to call the names, they called different ones and different ones, and there was Lincoln's seat empty. Said, "Abraham Lincoln?" Down through the chimney, said, "Present."

Faith finds a way. It might be down the chimney, but it'll get there. What difference does it make, so it arrives? Faith finds a way. It may be crawling, may be singing, may be shouting; whatever it is, it finds its way, moves right on.

Here it is, every promise in the Book belongs to every believer. Don't you stand still for somebody to push you off in a corner, give you a little cold tater, and tell you to wait. The atmosphere

Share
It's the atmosphere that does it. You can take a hen egg and put it in a incubator and keep the atmosphere right it'll hatch out a chicken not an incubator. See? Because that it's the atmosphere that counts. Put a chicken egg under a--a dog. It'll hatch a chicken. It's the atmosphere. And that's what it takes in the church today, not so much starchy creed and theology, but the Spirit of the living God pouring down upon His people to bring a spiritual atmosphere.
Not one saying, "I believe it's this," and another one, "I believe it's that." It's hard for the Holy Spirit to work.
Do you know when the Holy Spirit first came? It was on the day of Pentecost, when they were in all in one place and one accord. And then there came from heaven a sound like a rushing mighty wind. They had to get the atmosphere right.
And that's what we need today, brethren. We're way behind. The church ought to be a million miles up the road.

The message and the messenger

Share
Each age has had its message and its messengers. All through the times, every age has packed its message with a messenger. God, in every dispensation, has sent forth someone anointed with the Holy Spirit to bring forth His Message for that age, every time.
Now, we could start back, to back it up just a little bit. Even from the beginning, God was the Messenger at the beginning, to tell Adam and Eve, "You shall eat this, but you shall not do this." That was the message. And when man stepped across the message of the hour, it brought death and chaos to the whole human race. Now, that's how much the message means. And remember that it wasn't just a complete blank denial of what God said, that Eve believed; it was taking what God said and whitewashing it over, or--or just misconstruing it a little bit, just adding a little bit to It, or taking a little bit away from It. That's the reason that I believe that the Word is the Truth.

You watch television; you go down to the store; and you see these little old clothes that women wear that's ungodly. Do you know what's going to happen at the day of judgment? You might be just as virtuous to your husband as you can be, but in the day of judgment you're going to have to answer for committing adultery. A Scriptural promise

Share
Moses had maybe never heard the voice of God, but he knowed by intellectual, he knowed by a feeling inside of him, that he was the deliverer. But he tried to do it and failed, so he said, "Maybe I made a mistake."
There might be preachers setting out here the same way, that thought you made a mistake, when you found your failure. You just never waited long enough. The Bible said, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength... mount up with wings like an eagle."
Moses thought that maybe he'd missed his calling. But one day when God spoke to him face to face, and he heard the Word of God, my Angel spoke to him, and it co--coincides with the Word... When he saw that the voice that spoke to him was the same thing the Word had promised, then he had faith, and he was certain that he was going down there; he was certain Israel was going to come out from under the bondage, because God made the promise. It was a Scriptural promise.

God likened us unto sheep. I wonder why. Anybody here ever raise any sheep? Well, you know that a sheep is the most helpless thing in the world when it's lost. It just can't find its way home at all. Is that right, sheep-raisers? And I've helped raise them myself out on the Western prairie, and herded them a many. But notice, a sheep when it's lost... when he's lost, he will just stand and bleat. That's all. The wolves will come get him (That's all.), 'less a shepherd doesn't come to him. And that's the way it is with us, when we're lost, we're absolutely hopeless unless the Shepherd comes and gets us. So, I'm glad tonight God has got His Shepherd over His sheepfold, aren't you? That when we call, He always hears.

That's the Gospel

Share
If you're weary and gloomy and feel like that everyone's against you, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." That's a seed. Accept it. And if you're sick, "He was wounded for our transgressions, with His stripes we're healed." "Accept it. It's a seed: will produce.
When you sow a seed, you don't dig it up every morning to see if it's come to pass. If you do, your seed will never come up. You got to plant it, commit it to the earth, and let it alone. It's up to nature, God, to water it and to see that it produces. Is that true?
So that's the way you do the Word of God. Accept it in a good heart, already fertilized, and all the creepers, and the rocky places, and the stony doubts taken away, and in good rich soil of faith, and believe it, commit it to God, and walk away, testifying that you have received what God has promised you. And He's the High Priest of your confession, to make right anything that you confessed that He has done. That's the Gospel.

Two trees

Share
Now, in the garden of Eden there were two trees. One of them say, on the right side, was the Tree of Life; on the left side was the tree of knowledge. And as long as man eat from the Tree of Life which is faith, he lives. But the first bite he took off the tree of knowledge, he separated himself from his fellowship with God. You see it?
And notice then, in separating himself, he continually bites off of that tree, continually eating from that tree. Then he's brought it in till he's try to mix that knowledge with fellowship with God. And God never made a man by his knowledge to know Him. And all the knowledge we have will never understand God. God is known by one element; that's faith.

Identification

Share
But this hawk has long lost its identification, because it doesn't no more sail through the air and hunt its meat like it's supposed to. But it sets on the telephone wires and acts like a scavenger. He--he hunts for dead rabbits that the cars has killed, and him and the vultures get out there and eat together. He hops like a vulture, instead of walking like he should walk. He's lost his identification.
And I say this with all godly love and respect, the church has long lost her identification as a sister eagle. She sets around. Instead of digging into the Word and find where these things are right, she waits for a bunch of Sunday school literature that's been made up by a bunch of intellectuals somewhere, some dead rabbit that's been killed somewhere else, hops like a vulture. God, help us to fly away from that.
These promises are true. Not what somebody said about It, but what God said about them. They are true. I'm so glad to be associated with eagles.

Lot and Abraham

Share
Lot is a type of the denominational church down in Sodom yet. Watch, the Bible said that the sins of Sodom vexed his righteous soul daily. Why didn't he have nerve enough to stand out against it? There's a-many a-good man setting in a church today, looking out and seeing women with shorts on, and men doing these things, and their members going, playing golf on Sunday, and picnic parties, and swimming and things, instead of attending church, setting home on Wednesday night, watching television, instead of attending church. They feel like saying something about it, but the board would put them out. What's the matter? It's Lot again, looking out of his window and seeing the sin, and afraid to call sin sin.
Abraham wasn't in their mess; he was out of it. He was a type of the spiritual Church. Now, watch what happened just at the end time, just before the fire fell. And those were Gentiles. It foreshadowed the fire falling on the Gentile world today, when the kingdoms will be broke up and they'll be burnt. "Heavens will be on fire," saith the Lord.

Three things

Share
Three things lays before you right now.
First: The world is in a Sodom condition. Jesus said it would happen. Look at the perversion: Our women trying to act like men, our men trying to act like women: sissified, rotten, filthy, lowdown, devil possessed and don't know it. The Bible said that would happen, and that's where it's at.
Secondly: It's in that hour according to the Scripture here that Jannes and Jambres appears. Secondly...
Thirdly: It's at that same hour that the Son of man is to be revealed.
There is your believer, your make-believer, and your unbeliever. There is a genuine Word standing out, vindicated; there is the make-believer impersonating It; and there is the unbeliever rejecting the whole thing.

Can He get inside tonight?

Share
How did Abraham recognize that? Now, Abraham called Him "Elohim." How many knows that's true, Bible readers? Yes, sir. Elohim is the all-sufficient One, the great Creator Himself.
Why did he call Him Elohim? Because He could discern the thoughts that was in the heart; that's the Word. Hebrews 4 said--said, "The Word of God is sharper than a two-edged sword, piercing asunder the bone and marrow, and discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart." That's how the prophets... Jesus called them gods. That's how Jesus proved Himself. And that woman knowed He was the Word. He could discern the thoughts.
And Jesus said, "As it was in the days of Sodom, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of man," when the Son of man is being revealed. What has it done to your eyes? Can He get inside tonight? I hope He can.

To know Him is have life

Share
And one of the startling things... In closing, I might say this. Many things I have learned in studying of sheep. But I seen a shepherd a herding also in a field, and he had some goats, and he had some--some camels, and he had some mules, and he had sheep. Well, I said, "I suppose the shepherd means just a herder?"
Said, "Yes, he could just herd anything." He said, "But, Brother Branham, it would be amazing for you to watch now when nighttime goes to coming." Said, "It's true. They all feed in the same pasture. They feed upon the same texture of grass." That's right. But he said, "You know what? When nighttime comes, the shepherd goes to calling in the evening. It's only the sheep that's took into the barn for the night." I thought, "O God, I--I want to be a sheep. I just don't want to enjoy blessings and eat the texture there. I want to be a sheep. I want to know Him in the power of His resurrection."
To know Him is have life. Not to know your catechism, that's not life. Not to know the doxology, not to know the apostles' creed, is not life. Not to know the Bible is life, as good as it may be. But to know Him is Life. And it's only those, that when evening time begins to set, and the sun of our life begins to go down, I want to hear across the mountain yonder that separates between me and glory, I want to hear the Shepherd's voice call, say, "Brother Branham, it was well done, My good and faithful servant." I trust that's to all of you the same way.

Their natures was the same

Share
Now, the Bible said He saw the Spirit of God like a Dove, and He said, "Behold the Lamb of God." And the Dove came on the Lamb and abode... I like that "abiding."
Now, what if the Lamb would have snorted like a wolf. Why, the Dove would have been gone.
You know, sometimes I wonder if that's the reason that so much trouble is in the church. If we are the lambs of God, we should have the nature of lambs if we expect the dove to abide. You believe it? I do.
Now, if we'll watch the Dove... The reason it stayed on the Lamb, because their natures was the same. And the reason that the dove stays on the Christian, He will stay there as long as he is a lamb. But when he takes a different nature, the Dove will take its flight.

It has to be a spiritual revelation...

Share
Some people come to church just for the emotional part. Some people come to church just to sing. Some people come in church just to enjoy the good singing, that's all right. Some people come to church, and join church just to hide their meanness, make themselves a little better name in the neighborhood. Some come to church sincerely, but don't never have a touch from God. But when God calls a man, "No man can come to Me except My Father draws him first." And all that comes I will give him Everlasting Life, raise him up at the last day."
Oh, I hope you see it. Brother, it's the work of the Holy Spirit revealing to the individual, not upon some emotion, not upon something you should do, or shouldn't do, or this, that, or the other. All those things are all right, the moves and works, and shouting and dancing, and speaking in tongues; all those things are all right. But the first thing, it has to be a spiritual revelation that God has give the individual, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, calling. That's right. Without that, brother, you're only impersonating, only pretending.

There's not no history nowhere, where any church that ever organized, but what did fall, and every one fell, never rose again.
The children of Israel in type, was to follow the Pillar of Fire. And every night they must be ready, not to organize and set down here, but to move with the Fire. That's what God wants His people to do: move with the Spirit, move with the time.
You say, "Well, Brother Branham, we've had all kinds of rains, and inner rains and outer rain." You're intelligent. I don't care what kind of a revelation it is, and how good it looks, if it's not according to God's Word, then leave it alone. This is the Blueprint through the wilderness, the Word of the Lord.

God loves to show his hand mighty. Yes, He does. He likes to show His power. He's waiting tonight to show it in you; to take that sinner and turn him around, take that woman of ill fame and change her to a godly saintly woman, take that girl that's taken the wrong road, that boy the wrong road, bring them back to the place and make sons and daughters of God out of them. He's ready to take that man dying with cancer, that one with the heart trouble, that one that's blind, that one's afflicted, if he will just place his faith in there it'll turn him around from death unto life, start him off with a testimony. He's waiting to do it. He puts you right in the trap to see what you'd do. He put them right down in that trap there. Looked like nature itself was hiding its face. Yes.
One writer said one time, that when they got in that place, wondered what Moses would do. He had one command, "Go forward." If you're in the line of duty, no matter what stays in the way... The greatest experiences I've ever had is to come up against something I couldn't get over it, or under it, and just stand there and watch God make a way through it. That's the way to do it. Just move. Keep moving. Press your nose against it. Just keep moving on. Just keep going on. God will make a way.

And that's His interpretation of It

Share
God don't need any interpreter. We interpret; we say, "This, there... This is that, and this is that," and so forth. God don't need an interpreter. He's His own Interpreter. God don't need us to interpret His Word. The Bible, It's written, and It said It's of no private interpretation. God said in the beginning, "Let there be light," and there was light. That's the interpretation of it. God said, "A virgin shall conceive," and she did. That's the interpretation of It. It doesn't need anybody to interpret.
God said, in this day, these things would happen, and they are. It don't need any interpretation. It's God doing His own interpretation. It happens. No matter how much we try to twist It, and say it don't mean this, and don't mean that. It means just exactly, and God is His own Interpreter. He vindicates His Word, and that's His interpretation of It, because it's brought to pass.

He's got to be in you

Share
The only way to see God is get Him on the inside of you, so He can use your eyes. You'll see Him. But if you're trying to see Him on an intellectual conception of His Word, or some emotional work up, it'll never count anything; He's got to be in you.
Then you'll cry at the sunsets and the sunrise. You'll watch the majesty of fall of the year coming. Before even frost or a cool breeze is ever hit the earth, the sap will leave the trees and go down in the roots, hide. Because if it stays up there, the winter will kill the tree.
Then I ask this question, "What intelligence runs that sap out of the tree, down into the roots to hide for the winter?" Oh, the infidel has no grounds. But when He comes in, you'll notice Him in everything.

It is a purpose of God to give us the blessed Holy Spirit. It is a purpose of God to show us signs, and wonders, and miracles. It's a purpose of God and nothing can destroy it.
All powers of hell might wager against it, but it will prevail. We have God's eternal promise. There may be teachers; there may be isms rise; there may be great programs rise; there may be things that look like that it would be destroyed; but it can never be destroyed. It is the purpose of God to see that it will prevail.
Then it's not up to me, and it's not up to you whether it will be destroyed or not. It's up to God. And we can rest assured on it, that God will never let our heritage be destroyed; for it's His purpose to give it to us.

There is Light

Share
Remember, in every age in time of darkness God has always had His Word to divide the Light from the dark. He had it in the days of Luther when the Catholic church had everything. He sent Luther as a shining Light. And Luther divided truth from darkness. And when the Lutherans got twisted up, He made a John Wesley. And he divided Light from darkness. And in the days of Pentecost when the Wesleyan got all--and the Methodist got all gummed up, and the Baptists, and Presbyterian, He sent the Pentecostal message to separate Light from darkness. The Pentecost went right back out into the darkness again like that in their organization, took their creeds and things. Now, the hour has come for this Word to be vindicated. He sends the Light, the Word made manifest, like He did in the beginning, sends the Word, and it proves Itself. There is Light.

Old, old oak tree you have around here holds its leaves all winter long. Spring of the year comes, you don't have to go pick the old leaves off, just let the new life comes in, the old leaf drops off. That's the way it is. Let Christ come into the heart; the rest of it will take care of itself. That's right. Just get Christ in the heart; it'll take care of the rest.

Ask plenty

Share
20. After Elijah had crossed over, got over on the other side, he said to the young prophet... And them two prophets represented perfectly, Christ and the Church. Elijah going away, leaving the authority with the Church, was a type of Christ going away, leaving the authority with the Church. But the church had to come through Lutheran age, through Methodist age, through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, die out to self in order to receive the blessing.
Now, they crossed the Jordan. And they're going up the hill. Elisha turns around and said, "What would you that I do for you, seeing that you've been patient to follow me from every place, and won't turn back. You're determined to go on?."
Elisha says, "That a double portion of your Spirit might come upon me." That's the way to ask. See? Ask plenty. So God likes to give it that way. Just a little... The trouble... People say, "I--I ask the Father so much..." Oh, my, don't be scared to ask Him: ask just all you can ask. He likes to give you just as much as you got faith to receive. He won't run out. God's got plenty a blessings.

21. Could you imagine a little fish about that long, out in the middle of the ocean saying, "I better drink of this water sparingly; I might run out someday"? Oh, my... that... Why, my... That's nothing compare with what the blessings God's got for you. Could you imagine a little mouse under the great garners of Egypt saying, "I just better eat a few grains each day, because it might not last through the winter"? Why, he could never eat it in a thousand lifetimes. Neither could you "off-surp" the blessings that God's got laid up from you if you live ten million years here on earth. There'll still be plenty of blessings for you left, for He is the inexhaustible fountain of Life. When you plant yourself in Him, by this fountain, it's like the tree that's planted by the rivers of water. How glorious. And how He likes to push forth His blessings to His people and give to them abundantly.

That's His nature

Share
Some people picture Samson as having a--a shoulders about like a barn door. Now, it would be nothing strange about that, to see a man who could pick up the gates of Gaza and walk out with it, or take a lion and pull him apart. But, you know, Samson was just a little bitty (in the street expression), a little shrimp, little bitty, old curly-headed, sissified, mama's boy: seven curls. It was a strange thing. When they thought that a man, a great big ten-foot man could pick up a lion, sure, and kill him. But the strange thing was, this little fellow seemed to be helpless until the Spirit of the Lord come on him. It wasn't Samson. It was the Spirit of the Lord.
That's the reason that it wasn't the apostles. Jesus chose them all, practically every one of them without even enough education to sign their name. He didn't choose priests. He didn't choose theologians. He chose fishermen and herdsmen, the ignorant and unlearned, so that He could take that in His hand, and take nothing and make something out of it. That's His nature.

It's darkest just before the day

Share
4. And now, we see in the first part of this chapter, Abraham was setting in the door of his tent on a real hot day. It must have been a very hot day. Perhaps, lot of complaints had been coming in lately by the herdsmen, that the grass was all gone, the land was drying up, and that the cattle was becoming very thin, and also, that the water supply was just about all gone. They'd found the water holes in the land, and as the water got low, they would dig out and dig out till they got down to where the water was seeping through the rocks, and still the cattle did not have enough water to supply them.
You know, sometimes when things are going wrong, dark... We know by nature that it's darkest just before day. And many times when we see disastrous things happening like that, especially to believers, we must bear this in our mind, that it's Satan trying to block the blessing that's on its road.

5. That was very much so in this case. Satan was trying to tempt them to feel that they had done wrong, and was trying to block the on coming visitation that God was going to give to Abraham and Sarah.
And we're taught in the Scriptures, that all things work together for good to them that love God. And no matter how bad it seems, remember, it has to be working for your good. I'm so glad of that.
Satan's been after me all day. So I just believe that there's a blessing in store here in this city, somewhere. And I know, when he tempts and tries to block out, what's he trying to do? Get you to disbelieve. And if you--the worst thing that you can do is disbelieve God. And as soon as you get a little scared, "Well, maybe I haven't done this and I haven't done that," right then, Satan's got that blessing conquered for you. You can't get to it as long as Satan makes you think that.

I like that. I like that...

64. I was told a little story once. It helped me a lot. There was a boy that was kidnaped in the early days. I suppose all of you has taken Bible history and taken the history of the church. And in I believe it was the Foxe... No, it wasn't. It was the Nicaea fathers, or, the life of St. Patrick. St. Patrick was... Actually that was just a name was given him. His name was Suscat. And he was--he was kidnaped by a bunch of--of sea-rovers and was hired out to be a hog-raiser.
And this story goes that this kid was kidnaped and taken aboard of a ship, and he was working his way. And the old captain taken sick one day and was--was just about ready to die. And he was so sick, way out on sea, and the old fellow with his gray beard laying in his cabin. And he called his hands, his deck men, said, "Is there a Bible among you?" Said, "When I was a child I had Christian raising," and said, "I'm dying. And, men, I don't want to die like this." He said, "Have you got the Word of God? Any man here's got the Word of God?"

65. Finally way back in the bunch of men, a little boy stood up and he said, "Sir, I have a Bible. I am a Christian. I pack it with me."
He said, "Come here, sonny." He said, "Do you mean you pack a Bible?"
He said, "Yes." Said, "My mother and father was Christians, and I gave my life to Christ when I was just a teeny little fellow, and I've packed His Word with me wherever I go." Said, "I put it upon my heart and it's been in my heart."
He said, "Read me something out of there, son, before I die."
And the little fellow turned over to Isaiah 53 and 5 and it reads like this, "He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquity: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed."
And when he said that, the old captain said, "Can you read on?"
The little boy said, "May I comment here?"
And the old captain said to the lad, said, "Go ahead."
He said, "My Christian mother, before I was taken from her," said, "you know she used to read that Scripture to me so much. And you know the way she read it?"
And the old captain said, "No, son, I'd like to hear the way your Christian mother read it."

66. She said... He said, "Here's the way she read it: 'He was wounded for Willie Pruitt's transgressions; He was bruised for Willie Pruitt's iniquity: the chastisement of Willie Pruitt was upon him; and with His stripes Willie Pruitt was healed.'"
The old captain said, "I like that. I like that." Said, "Oh, if my name could only be read in there." Said, "You think you could do it, son?"
He said, "I'll try it." He said, "He was wounded for John Quartz' transgressions, He was bruised for John Quartz' iniquity; the chastisement of John Quartz' peace was upon Him; and with His stripes John Quartz was healed."
With tears running down his beard, he said, "Fetch me my clothes. Jesus Christ has healed me. I give my life to Him." See?

67. Oh, friend, if you can only read your name in there. Oh, if I can read my name. "He was wounded for William Branham's transgressions; He was bruised..." Not the church, not this, not creed, but "He was bruised for my iniquity: the chastisement of my peace was upon Him; and with His stripes William Branham was healed." Oh, if we can just read our name into Scripture and really mean it. It's... That's what does it. Read our name into it makes a receiving, a pardoning. For when we realize that "He was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquity..."

What a beautiful picture it is today of a consecrated life who, once enters into with Christ, dead to the things of the world, hid away with God, and the veil's dropped down around, and all the world's shut off. Then Christianity and religion becomes a pleasure to every believer.
Today people just have enough religion to make them miserable, knowing that they ought to do this, their trying to escape hell. Well, if that's the way I felt about it, brother, I don't know what I would do.
Oh, get in with Christ. Shut off from the things of the world, for, to commune with Him is a pleasure. It's beautiful. We do not live by what we see

Share
9. Now, may the Lord add his blessing to the reading of His Word. It is a strange thing, that man who was made in the image and the likeness of God and was called of Him to walk by faith, believing that God is, would choose to walk by sight instead of by faith. After his makeup, his being, and all that dwells in him was fashioned in the likeness of God... And God is that great Jehovah Who calls those things which were not as though they were. And man made to live with God in this manner, yet has he chosen to walk by his sight. He wants to be his own boss. He wants no one to tell him what to do. That's just the nature of man.
It proved to be thus in the garden of Eden when he had lost his fellowship with God by choosing to go his own way, and not have any one to rule over him.

10. But a man is made like a sheep. And a sheep cannot find it's way back, I'm told; when it's lost, it's totally lost.
And that's the way with man. When he is lost, he is absolutely helpless. He must have a shepherd to guide him. And man when he chooses, as the days go on, we find man continually getting worse, choosing rather to walk by sight, than stead of by faith, by the Unseen. And when he does that, he robs the inner man, which is the soul. And that's the eternal part of man.

11. Now, "Man shall not live by bread alone," said the Lord, "but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." And a man's physical being, to be taken care of, is not all the reason God put him on the earth. Because what He does with this physical being amounts to very little. It's his soul what counts. It's the inward man that did not come from the earth; it come from heaven, and that's the eternal part of the human being.
But yet, strange that he tries to figure his own way out. And we find it so in the Scriptures. That when a man chooses to walk in his own way and do the way he wants to, God just let's him alone.
Man must not think for himself, but he must let the mind that was in Christ be in him. We are not to think for ourself. We are to call anything contrary to what He said, as though it is not, no matter what our eyes claim to be. We do not live by what we see; we live by what we believe.

72. The identification, that God's Own interpretation is the manifestation of the promise. Maybe I'll say it, make it a little plainer. Now, how does He interpret His Own Word? By fulfilling It. The Bible said, "A virgin shall conceive"; she did. That don't need any interpretation. God said, "Let there be light," and there was. That don't need any interpretation.
God said also, that in these last days He'd pour out His Spirit upon all flesh, and He's done it. That don't need any interpretation. That only needs an acception, somebody to accept what God has done. It doesn't need an interpretation. God interprets His own Word. God promised

God's work

Share
A man's work declares his character. Christ was God's work. And Christ declared God's character, His feeling for the sick, His longing for saving of souls, till even He gave His own life. God's work... God's character was declared in Christ.
And if you can just empty your own intellectual thoughts out and give God the right of way, He can declare His character through the work of your yielding. Empty out; get the world, get your doubts out of the way.
If you come to the altar to be prayed for, say, "I'll go up and see if I get healed," God can never declare His works. You've got to get your own thoughts out of the way and let Him fill you.

It'll come to pass

188. Everything He's got in His Kingdom belongs to us. He just takes the whole big Book full of checks, and signs His Name on the bottom of them, say, "Here you are, son. Anything you need, go get it." Amen.
Don't be afraid to fill it out. Fill it out and hand it in, say, "Thank You, Lord." Hallelujah. It'll come to pass.
"Whatsoever things you desire (Mark 11:24), when you pray, believe you'll receive it, you shall have it."

191. Sign out the check, say, "Lord, I need healing." Tear it off, say, "There You are, Lord, I ask in Jesus' Name for healing." Say, "Thank You, Lord," and walk right on, believe for the healing. That's right. Like them crows sending down that food to Elijah. There it is.
Say, "I need salvation for my soul." What'll you do? Just write out and say, "Said, 'Come unto Me, all ye that labor and heavy laden; I will give you rest.' That's for me, Lord." Fill out the check. "I need salvation. Hand it to me, Lord."
"Here It is." "Thank You, Lord." Walk away with it.
Need the Holy Ghost? Yes, sir. "Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem till you're endued with power from on High. After this the Holy Ghost come upon you, you'll be witness of Me in Jerusalem, Judaea, and Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the world." You believe It? Fill out the check and send it up signed, see what happens. God will give it: God's provided way. He provided you a Checkbook; go ahead and fill it out. God promised it. You believe that? Sure. God always has a provided way.

Microphone

Share
I believe that every person come here tonight, with good intentions. And I believe that your intentions is to know something of the Lord Jesus. You would not have come out here, if you had a--a mind of the world, you'd probably be over here, and where they were having worldly pleasures of some sort, bathing on the beach, or out in the museum, or the parks, or somewhere, on those kind of things. But you've come tonight, merely because you wanted know what this was all about. Maybe you are a renowned Christian. And every Christian person--person longs to know more the Lord Jesus. Don't you believe that?
And I believe, if there was one thing that every person in here would long to see tonight, would know were truly to see the Lord Jesus appear here at the platform or somewhere in Person. And that's our great anticipation of waiting His coming. Someday He will return, and we will see Him. Until that time, He's with us in a Spirit form, and He only has hands as we yield our hands. He only has eyes as we yield our eyes, a voice as we yield our voice to Him. And we become a complete yielded vessel; then the Holy Spirit speaks through us.

This microphone here, it--it's a mute unless there's a voice here to go through it. And that's the way we are, the church is: The church is a complete mute unless it is subject to the Spirit of God, to let the Spirit speak through the church as God will. And then it becomes a voice to the world, as long as it--it's an outlet. The church is the outlet of the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ to the peoples of the world.

Now, if there would be any person in here, anyone, that would say... How many in here would like to see the Lord Jesus? Let's see your hands just around. Everyone, everyone would like to see Him.
Now, I had my hand up too. I would love to see Him, and I believe tonight... Now, why can't we see Him? That's the next thing. Now, He promised that He wouldn't hide Hisself from us, that He would reveal Himself to us, and come to us, and be with us, and in us; and He would be the same in His church, that He was when He was in flesh; and He would continue that way until He came again in flesh. Is that His promise? We all know that to be truth. The Bible says this.
Our Lord Jesus, before going away, He said, "A little while, and the world will see Me no more." Now, that's the world. The world there means the--not the world--it's the world order, not the--the world, earth, it's the world order, the people. "A little while, and the world will see Me no more, yet ye..." Now, He was talking to a "ye," not just to them individuals, because watch. See? "Yet ye, shall see Me. You will see." For He promised He'd be with us, even in us, until the end of the world. Is that right?

Now, there's going to be somebody that's going to be on the sign--the side of the "ye." "Ye shall see Me, for I'll be with you." There's going to a side of the world, who doesn't desire to see Him. They just--well, if it's for curiosity, they'd like to see Him. But otherwise, just merely to pay the price, and become a Christian, well that's different.
Now, the "ye's" that's here tonight, may be privileged to see the Lord Jesus Christ, the persons that's the "ye." And I pray that every one of you are "ye's" tonight.

A lollipop

Share
Gypsy Smith, I believe it was, once said that the greatest offering that he ever had, outside of salvation... Said, "One night he was going to have a love offering taken up from it, for him." I think, by the way, that's the reason he was put out of the Salvation Army, was taking an--an offering, or something... No, it was something somebody give him, a watch or something. I believe you're not supposed to do that in the Salvation Army.

But said, "That all the people would--had give him a love offering. And from the depths of their heart they'd done it." Many of those people's in glory tonight and their reward is with them for helping that wonderful man of God. And he said one striking thing. When he started to leave the audience that night, standing back behind the curtain was a little girl, ragged, and she had a little present wrapped up in her hand. And she said, "Give Mr. Smith," said, "this is all I have, but this is my love offering to you." And when he got outside and unwrapped it, it was a lollipop, been licked on a little bit. But she happened to think that she... It was all she had to give.

He used to tell how he--how it got him. That's right, it's all she had. You know, the One Who watched the widow put in the two pennies tithings that time, He seen that lollipop, don't you believe so? Sure He did; He sees everything. No matter how insignificant it is, Jesus said, "Isn't two sparrow--isn't two sparrows sold for one farthing." And a farthing is a fourth of a penny. Two sparrows, one farthing, one fourth of a penny will buy two sparrows, how insignificant. And said, "There's none of it... neither of them... No sparrow could even fall without your Father knowing about it." He knows everything, doesn't He? So isn't it wonderful then just to lay our hearts right out before Him?

I'm convinced

I'm convinced that He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. I'm convinced in the ministry and the Message I'm preaching. I am convinced that It's the Truth. I'm convinced that these visions come from God. I am convinced we're living in the last days. I'm convinced that this very Spirit that's on you now is the Holy Ghost. Glory.
I'm thoroughly convinced. I'm convinced that the Holy Ghost way is right. I'm convinced that the Bible way is the Truth. I'm convinced that This is Jesus Christ here now. I'm convinced if we believe Him at this minute. I'm convinced that He'll heal every sick person in a moment in a twinkling of a eye. I'm convinced that He'd pour out the Holy Ghost upon here till there'd be such a shout till hard to tell what would take place. I'm convinced. I believe it with all my heart.

Checkbook

20. You know what I find in traveling? I say this with humbleness. I find two classes of people. One, the fundamental, the other one, the Full Gospel. They're both fine classes of people. But here's the trouble. The fundamental knows what they are, positionally, in Christ, but don't have much faith to exercise it. The Full Gospel's got plenty of faith, but don't know what they are. That's right.
Just like a man's got a lot of money in the bank, but he don't know how to write a check. And the other man's got no money in the bank and he knows how to write a check. If I could ever get them together.
If you realize that you're a son and daughter of God, and the deposit's made in Calvary, and you've got a checkbook in your hand, write anything you want to on there, God's promised to take care of it. It's in the bank. It was deposited at Calvary. Your salvation, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you're worries, and things gone. And everyone of you can be perfectly made well, 'cause your redemption is already redeemed before God, and He's setting at the right-hand of God to make intercessions upon your confession.

Soul, Body, Spirit

Share
Now, a man is made up as a triune being: soul, body, spirit. Now, the outside is the body. There's five gates to that body, and that's the five senses, of course: see, taste, feel, smell, and hear. The inside, like the seed that's planted... The inside of that is the pulp-like of the seed, which is the soul. There's five gates to that you enter into: conscience, and memory, and so forth.
But then inside of that little compartment is the third compartment, which is the spirit. And that's what controls the rest of it. There's only one avenue through that, and that's self will. You can accept or turn away and that's the only avenue to that. If you accept the will of God through that spirit, God's Spirit takes His place in your heart and controls the rest of you. And if you do not accept that, then the enemy takes that spot and controls the rest of you.

Insomuch as you have done unto the least of these My little ones

Share
262. So one cold day, he was standing by the gate of the city of Tours, when he was going in, and said there laid an old beggar in the street. You've have read it, no doubt, many a time. There laid a beggar in the street, freezing to death, a real cold winter. He was begging people, "Come. Will--will somebody give me a cloak? I'll freeze tonight. I can't lay out on this ground like this. Will somebody give me a coat?" Nobody. He said, "Please, somebody have mercy, an old man, I'm dying. I've served my time. I've done my best. Don't let me die. I'm freezing to death. Somebody wrap me up, will you?"
And so he just stood back, Saint Martin, looking. He wasn't a believer; he wasn't a Christian then; he hadn't accepted It. He just stood and watched. Nobody did it, when the crowds went on by, some of them plenty well to do it. He only had one coat, and that was his military coat. He pulled out his sword and cut it, half in two, wrapped the old beggar up in it, and went on.
People laughed at him going down the street, one piece of coat hanging on him. "What a funny looking soldier," they said it was, made fun of him.
That night he was woke up in his sleep. He looked, standing by the side of his bed, and there stood Jesus wrapped in that old piece of coat that he'd wrapped the beggar in. Then he knowed, "Insomuch as you have done unto the least of these My little ones..."
It was a paradox, his call. He was the--he was the messenger of that age. He stood for the Scripture, against all the wickedness of Catholicism in that day. God chose him, and He let him see Christ by a paradox.
