Because it's not your Word

Share
Now, it had been a long time since Elijah had make this prophecy. He'd been in glory long. But he would--he'd made this prophecy, and he knowed it was coming to pass. And then Micaiah knew that Elijah was a man of God, and here was God up in heaven holding a council up there how to bring the word of Elijah to pass. And if you've got the Word of the Lord, and will speak the Word of the Lord, and don't doubt the Word of the Lord, God will hold a council meeting to make your Word come to pass; because it's not your Word; it's His Word. It's His Word, if it's THUS SAITH THE LORD, if it's truly THUS SAITH THE LORD.

No one else could do it

Share
But He had to stand the reproach. And here He has Hisself bound, lead up to death, in order to be put to death, to bring back Eternal Life. Glory to God! Oh, how I love Him! Bring back Eternal Life and raise up every son of God, down through the age, that stood with that Word and took the reproach. That's right. If He hadn't come, Noah couldn't raise. If He hadn't come, Elijah couldn't come back. If He hadn't come, Noah would never raise. If He could... if He hadn't come. Cause, He was that predestinated Lamb, that come to take the reproach upon Himself, and die the death for every Word of God that had been spoke, and these righteous men has stood for. He had to be. No one else could do it. God Himself, and He come and took the place, that He might redeem and give Eternal Life to every son of God that has stood for the same Word and would suffer the reproach. Every son of God, down through the age, that would stand the reproach, there was no one could redeem him, but by faith he saw that Redeemer coming.

Do you know all those things are good for you?

And sometimes we think that, our burdens. I might inject this right here, that, we think our burdens are so heavy sometimes, that there's nothing like it in the world. Do you know all those things are good for you? They are all to mold you, make you. Prophets and sages was molded on the backside of the desert, in the hot, blazing sun, through tribulations and trials, and persecutions. And these things that we have today, there's nothing happened to us that hasn't happened to other Christians, before. Other Christians has had to stand in the hour of darkness like this, and even be fed to lions, for their testimony.

Don't stop for nothing

Share
What if Jesus would've come to earth and said "I'm Jesus, I'm Son of God," never done nothing, He'd just say "I--I'm going up here and join the church"? Would that been the Son of God? What did He say? "If I do not the works of My Father, then don't believe Me." Oh, my! Do you see? God declares Himself, He loves to. He's Jehovah. He likes to make Hisself known. Oh, I'm so glad of it. Yes, sir. He's made Hisself known to me, I know He has to you. Some of you young people just converted, yet you don't... might not know Him in the power and great things that the older Christians do, but you're coming right on into it. You're coming right up the King's highway. Don't... Just keep looking and pressing just hard as you can. Run, run, run just as hard as you can. Don't stop for nothing, just keep on going.

Only thing that'll back off God is Blood

Share
Adam and Eve made just as good a apron as any Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, or Pentecostal could make, it covered their nakedness. But God could see through it, so He killed something and took the dead skins of the--skins of the dead animal and covered it. Blood had to take its place. That stayed His wrath, He seen the blood and backed off from it, because something had shed its life. O God! Think of it! Only thing that'll back off God is Blood. And there's only one Blood that He'll back from, and that's His Own Son. When He sees that's His Own Son's Blood, He'll back back. 'Cause that's the gift that is... God has given to His Son, to redeem those who He foreknew, and it brings God back from His judgment. But when that Blood is removed, and all that was foreknown has been called into the precious Body, His Church has been made ready and taken up, then God's wrath is on the people. Oh, brother, don't never want to stand there!

When He's Lord, He's Lord over all

Share
Now, let's look into the human heart, if it has doors inside the door. Now, people say, "Jesus, come into my heart, because I don't want to go to torment when I die. I want to accept You as my Saviour, but I don't want You to be my Lord." Now, there's quite a difference. He can be your Saviour and still not be your Lord. When He's Lord, He's Lord over all. Every part of you, He's Lord, welcome to any place in your heart.

It's all drinking, resting, peace

Share
When you're planted in Christ Jesus, everything that you have need of in earth's journey is in you when you receive the Holy Spirit. And the only thing you have to do is drink, drink, and push out, push out. Just drink till you can't drink no more. If you have need of Divine healing, go to God's Word and drink from It, until you push out. If you need more of God, just keep drinking, pushing out. And Christ is the inexhaustible Fountain of Life. And if you're planted in Him, the only thing you have to do, is drink of His goodness and push out whatever you have need of in this earth's journey. It's all drinking, resting, peace. It's not what you struggle and strive and pull at, you--you defeat the very purpose that you're representing when you do that. Christianity is not something, God's not One you have to beg, and cry, and plead, and fast, and starve, and everything like that to get to.

And His Spirit is put right in the middle of the new spirit

Share
Notice, now, "I'll give you a new spirit, and I'll put My Spirit..." Notice, the new heart is put right in the middle of you. And the new spirit is put right in the middle of your new heart. And His Spirit is put right in the middle of the new spirit. It's just like the mainspring in a famous watch. When that... When that mainspring sets in the middle of the watch, it controls every movement of that watch. And that's what's the matter, friends. Now, I hope you see this. And I'm not saying it to be--try to twist or be indifferent; I'm only saying it because I know that someday I'll stand in the judgment with you. You see, if the Holy Spirit is in the middle of your spirit... And that watch spring makes all the rest of the movements just tick just exactly to the place, keeping perfect time. When the Holy Spirit is in the middle of your spirit, it makes every action of the Holy Spirit in you tick off just exactly according to God's Timepiece, the Bible. Right.

That's the vindication of His resurrection

Now, today just imagine that His Presence being here today. The Lord Jesus is in another world, or another dimension, right here today in form of Spirit. His Spirit is blending in with our spirit. Our eyes can't see Him, because that they're physical yet, unless there would something happen that we could see vision. But He is here just as visible, just as real as He was the day that He spoke to Mary at the grave, or He met Cleopas on his road to Emmaus. His Presence is here. It can be feeled with that, felt with that inner charge that's on the inside of the human body, called the new birth. The soul has been magnetized unto Him. And once in a while, when you let your mind be concentrated on Him, believing on Him, after while something, a reality, you can feel something sweep over your being. That's the vindication of His resurrection.

And the very God, back there in the beginning that rolled the world, the moon, the stars, and made them from things which do not appear, or made them out of things that do appear. Out of things... And where did He get the material to make it? He spoke it into existence by His Word. He said, "Let there be." And it was so: Deity. And that--a portion of that deity dwells in the heart of every borned again Christian. Hallelujah. Then what did He say, "Ask what you will, and it'll be given to you." There you are. Deity, it fell on the day of Pentecost. It's still falling.

That's the faith

Share
Why brother, it's by faith you're saved. Is that right? But listen. In accepting of your faith, God confirms your faith by the baptism of the Holy Ghost. If you say you believe, and you don't get the baptism of the Holy Ghost, then you do not, it--it--your faith isn't accepted in the sight of God. You've got a mental faith and in the stead of a heart faith. That's right. When you truly believe God, God's under obligation to pour the Holy Ghost on you. And then if He does pour the Holy Ghost on you... You say, "Well, I've got the Holy Ghost too." Well, if you do, you're bound to believe in the supernatural signs and wonders, because you're added to it. That's the faith.

You didn't work yourself up into faith. You ever have faith, it's give to you by the grace of God. And God reveals it to you, therefore faith is a revelation. And the whole Church of God is built upon the revelation.

Then the Holy Spirit came

Share
Jesus would not permit His disciples to preach the Gospel until they received the Holy Ghost, yet they had been honored to walk with Him three and a half years. Though they were holy men, accepted in His sight, but He would not let them go preach until they waited up there and got all the differences out of them, and then the Holy Spirit came. What the world needs today is that same filling. When the dumping-out comes, it needs a filling. What does that filling do when it comes in? Where you have doubts, it brings faith; where you have indifference, it brings love; where you had hatred it brings fellowship; and then when the church of the living God, someday will be united under one great Head, and that will be the--the Head of God. God, into the unity of the Body of Christ will be the Governor and the King and the Lord over the entire church under His control. Then she will be received up.

Just open it up and--open, say, "God, now open my eyes that I can see You." The Word is God. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Deep Calling To The Deep: if the deep's calling, there's a deep to respond. In other words, before there was a tree to grow on the earth, there had to be an earth to grow in first. God never made the tree for the earth, He made the earth for the tree. He made the earth and commanded the earth to bring forth a tree. And the earth was calling, till the tree come forth. Before there was a fin on a fish's back, there was no water for him to swim in. The reason he's got a fin, is because there was water for him to swim in to use it. I can see Him. He wasn't very much to look at. The Bible said there's no beauty we should desire Him. He wasn't a great big six footer. He was a little frail Fellow. He straighten His little frame up, stooped in the shoulders as He was. Said He was gray in His beard before He was thirty years old. Stooped in His shoulders up like that, said, "Thy brother shall rise again." Oh, my. She said, "Yes, Lord. I know he will raise again at the last day." Them Jews believed in the general resurrection. Said, "I know he will raise at the last day. He was a good boy. And God will raise him up at the last day." I can see Jesus say, "But I am the Resurrection and Life. I am," not "I will be; I was": I am (present tense.); I am the Resurrection and Life. He that believeth in Me shall never die."

Because you get two men, you got two opinions. It's got to come to one final absolute, and my absolute is the Word, the Bible. And as a pastor here of the church, my absolute is the Word, and I want... Then you have some idea of what the love of God is

Share
45. Now here in Louisville, Kentucky, not long ago, a minister was talking, that there was a--a young lady. She had waited a little long in life to be married, somewhere around her twenty-five, thirty years old. And she was a fine, staunch Christian girl. And there was a certain man in Louisville that wasn't; he hadn't lived such a good life. He had run to dances and roadhouses, and so forth, but one day he found pardon for his sin and he--he become a real Christian, real staunch Christian. About a year later, he fell in love with this young lady, and the young lady madly fell in love with him. And they were married.

46. And after they lived together about two years, they said that this young lady said to her husband one day, she said, "Dear, I suppose that's kind of hard for you, just a new Christian," said, "I've been a Christian since a little girl." But said, "For you, a young Christian, to have to stand all the--the--the wiles and temptations that goes with it after you--you've sinned so long."
And he said, "Well, it does become a battle."
47. She said, "I want you to remember one thing, that if the enemy does upset you somewhere, and you fall and you go back into sin, don't stay away from home. I want you come on home." Said, "You're going to find at home the same wife that you married." And said, "I'll help you to pray back, and pray through, and get back to God again." Said, "I--I--I--I don't want you to stay away." Said, "Look, I married you upon the basis not of what you were, but I married you because I loved you." And she said, "No matter what you do, I still love you. I married you because I loved you."

48. And the man that day went to work, was heard repeating it in a... the place where he was working. He said, "Now, how could a man do anything wrong against something like that?" When a woman, that loves him so much that, no matter what he did, was willing to come back and take him again, and try it again. See? It shows... Now, you multiply that by a billion and then you have some idea of what the love of God is. See?
49. That when a man falls in love with Jesus Christ, the things of the world... When you think of what He did for you in the Light of the Scripture, not in the light of some emotion, but in the light of facts, what it is, then there is something happens in you. When the new Birth comes, the sin is dead as midnight. When as long as that Light is in you, how can darkness shine? It cannot do it. That's what God did to one man who throwed hisself in the gap, that could take the promise. And Moses being a--a type of this Antitype, that's why Moses stood in the gap for the people.

You've got to stay and call it, call things right before Satan. Tell him "It's this a way. THUS SAITH THE LORD. The Lord has said so and that It is written. It's written." No matter what he says, "it's written," right there.
"Well, Brother Branham never got to touch me."

16. Then Edison, hour after hour, something in his heart... They never had no electricity before, but--to light a light, but Edison believed that it would do it. And finally he conquered it, because something in his heart said it'll do it. And as long as there's something in here saying that it'll do it, there's got to be something out there to respond to that. That's right.
What would your great grandfather have said when he talked to the neighbor about a television, a wave, vibrating through the air like that, would even make the picture. Why, he'd have said, "He's mentally upset," but somebody believed that there was an airwave. And he couldn't explain it. God had it here. Now, how did he think of being a airwave. We've got it: we got television, haven't we? Sure we have. Radio and so forth. How was it? Because something down in the human heart said, "It's there." And it broke into that realm, and picked it up, and brought it out here and give it to the world.

17. Now, brother, sister, you can call a fanatic if you want to, but I know that there is a power of God. First thing, because God said so. Second thing, because in my heart there's something in there that says that there's a power of God to heal every sickness. I believe it. And as long as I believe that, I'll spend my life (See?), that I know that it's the truth. It's God's Word first, and there's something in my heart telling me, "It's there." And I'm searching every wire, everywhere, trying to find a place that we can get it into church. Fanatics may rise and go, but God... You'll see the day, that the church of Jesus Christ will stand to its feet with this great power that they're laughing at us about today. It'll be brought forth just like electricity was, 'cause there's something down in the human heart says it's there. See? It's the same Angel of God.

A man cannot sin until first he casts aside God's Word. He can't even sin (that's disbelieve) until first he gets rid of the Word of God, the Presence of God; he cannot sin. Eve could not sin, until she laid aside God's Word, opening up her channel of reasons to her soul and begin to reason. "Why certainly, my husband's never told me these things, but I believe that you... He told me I shouldn't do this, but you know, you make it so real; it's so plain. I--I believe it would be wonderful, because you're making it so plain to me." See? There was the first battle. And through that battle has caused every other war and every bloodshed that ever come was caused right there at Eden. She disbelieved God's Word. And if one little iota of God's Word was disbelieve, caused all this trouble, how we going to get back, disbelieving the Word? You can't do it.

The suit I got on, Brother Moore was with me, and I got it four years ago in Sweden. Pair of shoes, my wife bought it for me. I got another suit over there was give to me in Florida. Another one I got in Finland; two I got in Germany, or not Germany, but Africa. That's where the clothes comes from. It's what people give me. Some of them's hand me down. That's true. I got a suit from California about five years ago and been wearing it ever since. And it--it's about six, seven years old when I got it. But what is it? It's good enough. He didn't even have but one garment and borrowed somebody's grave to be laid in. I could've been pretty well off if I'd took all the money people had offered me, but I want to be just as poor as those who come to be prayed for. We're fellow citizens of the kingdom of God. I'm not saying that just to be saying. I'm saying it because I want you to know, friends, that the kingdom of God does not consist of riches in this earth, fine clothes. It's a submitted heart to God, is where God works.

Right now we are the sons of God

Now, I'm going to shock you a little bit. You don't mind, do you? All right. For instance, the meat's a frying, and all at once the grease pops out on your hand. Now, if you'll just shake it off and go on frying meat, it wouldn't bother you. Now, I know you didn't get that just right. Look. The first thing, "Oh, where the Unguentine?" Something... You see, grabbed your hand. See, see? It scares you to death. That's what does it. It's fear. Peter walking on the water. He was walking all right, till he seen the waves contrary and he got scared. Jesus said, "Why'd you fear?" That's what's the matter with the Holy Ghost people today. They've got a lot afraid... The devil's just trying to scare you out of something. He's trying to put something off somewhere else, say, "Some of these days you'll be this." You are now. Now, we're sons of God. Now, we're seated together in heavenly places. Now, we have all powers in heavens and the earth. See? Now, we have it. Not in the millennium, we won't need it then. We got it now. We're... Right now we are the sons of God.

You create that atmosphere

Now, in Jesus was God. God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, and these people believed His testimony. And them that did truly believe it could draw God's blessings from Him. And when they did so, He said virtue went from Him. Virtue is strength. He... In other words, if we'd say it today, He got weak when the people drawed off of Him. Well, if it worked that way in that human body, it'll work in another human body. And we create a--our atmosphere around us, each one of us. You've been with people that were nice people, but you just couldn't hardly be around them. Then you've been with other people that you just loved to be around them. You create that atmosphere. And, oh, wouldn't you have loved to have been around Jesus just a... Wonderful. See what that atmosphere He created would've been. I imagine it was just one great big bundle of love, and respects, and godly fear.

How are you going to get there anything short of it?

Share
Oh, God wants to restore the faith that was once delivered to the saints. You say, "Brother Branham, is that the faith?" Don't take the Me--Methodist ritual, the Baptist ritual, or the Pentecostal ritual; take the Bible. Let's see what they did. They were all in the upper room with one accord, and suddenly, the same rushing wind come from heaven, filled all the house where they was setting. What'd you say? They said, "Ohhh, I don't know whether to do this or not. If I go outside, they'll make fun of me. If I say anything, 'Why, he said to go out." No, sir. The Holy Ghost met them, that bunch of little cowards. They got life and went through windows and doors, out into the street, and acted like a bunch of maniacs, and staggered and screamed and hollered and everything, like a bunch of drunk people; till the ritualistic church of that day said, "These men are full of new wine." And listen, sister, you that's so dignified at the sewing circle in your church, and so forth, and got such a social standing in Louisville, New Albany, and Jeffersonville, the blessed virgin Mary was in there. And if God Almighty required blessed virgin Mary, and wouldn't let her come to heaven till she got that experience, how are you going to get there anything short of it?

God's more willing to give you the Holy Ghost than you are willing to accept It

Share
Same thing about the Holy Spirit. You say, "I've been seeking for the Holy Ghost for years." I'm not scolding you. You're either mistaught, or something's wrong, or you don't understand. God is under obligation to His Word. Peter said on the Day of Pentecost, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." That's the Scripture, just as clear as I know how to read it. If you repented and are baptized, then God's under obligation, if your faith is right towards God to give you the Holy Ghost the minute that you obey His Word. Believe that. God will vindicate it to you. If your heart's really right before God, and you're taught right, and believing it, and walk up there with the assurance, something's going to happen, 'cause God's more willing to give you the Holy Ghost than you are willing to accept It.

Get that heart cleaned out, to where joy bells of heaven rings, and there's a resurrection

That's the way it is with every man or woman, when he's born of the Spirit of God and sees the true resurrection. No man knows that Jesus is resurrected from the dead, unless he's died, himself, in Christ Jesus, and been borned again, anew by the Holy Ghost. Every man is only a theologically believing, he's only materially believing, he's only looking at it on paper, until the Holy Spirit's bore record of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. You, from the dead things of life, unto a new and living hope in Christ Jesus... Every man or woman without that is lost this morning. That's right. Oh, my brother, sister, get right with God. Get that heart cleaned out, to where joy bells of heaven rings, and there's a resurrection; Jesus lives and reigns within the heart.

I'm not against education. Educations are all right. But people get so highly educated, till they think they know more about it than God does. And then they miss the goal. You've got to forget all you ever knowed in your own knowledge to know Christ. Well, you just come childlike and accept Him. That's all. That's the way you accept God. And more simple you can get, more humble, and get away from yourself, your own ideas, just take God's Word for what it's worth, and believe It. And it's by faith that these things are come, not what you can figure out. You'll never be able. There's never been a man on the world, no saint, nor no one has ever figured God out. You can't. So don't think that you can do something that they cannot do, 'cause they--it can't be. That's right. You just believe Him. That's what He wants you to do, not try to figure Him out.

You wouldn't eat soup with a fly in it. No, sir. You--you wouldn't--you wouldn't be--you'd be afraid to eat food that didn't look just right and was contaminated, because you know it might give you a--a ptomaine poison, or something, and would kill you in a little bit. And you watch about this body. But that soul, you let it feast on things of the world, which you know is contaminated and can only do one thing: take you to destruction. And no matter how well you treat this body and how good a food or how it lives, it's got to go to the dust of the earth; but that soul will live forever somewhere. I would rather eat contaminated soup, than contaminate my soul with the things of the world--at any time.

How beautiful that parable was taught of the wedding supper. He found one there without a wedding garment on. Why, that's very typical. In the Oriental times, when they give a--a supper out or something another, the bridegroom had to furnish the robes. That's--that's the way it is in this affair too, the wedding supper we're going to. And then the bridegroom hired a man to stand at the door. And everybody that had a invitation, come at the door. Poor or rich, any kind, they put this robe around them. When they were in, they were all alike. I like that. Brethren, there's no big me and little you then, when you come by the way of the Door. And then He found a man back there that didn't have a wedding garment on. He come in some other way besides of the door. And Jesus said, "Friend, what are you doing here?" And he was speechless. And you try to climb up your own moral stepladder or by some creed or some church, brother, you're going to find yourself the same way. Every man that comes by the Door is going to get the same robe. And that robe is the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Every man pays the same price.

But that's very contrary to what Jesus said. Jesus didn't say, "These signs will follow them: they'll take their place in church, and they'll be loyal members," and so forth. He never said that. But here's His last statement to the Church. Listen. "These signs shall follow them that believe: in My Name they shall cast out devils, speak with new tongues, or take up serpents, drink deadly things it'll not harm them. If they lay their hands on the sick, they shall recover." And then He ascended up into heaven. And the disciples worshipped Him, and returned to Jerusalem, the Lord working with them, confirming the Word with signs following.

And as the waters pushed on, after while Jesus spoke and said, "Be not afraid. It's I." Peter said, "If It's You, Lord, give me just a little test." And ask and you shall receive. So He gave him the test, and when he tried to do it in himself, he failed, and every other man will fail. He got his eyes off of Jesus and begin to look how big the waves was. When he seen the waves were contrary, he begin to sink. And every man that will look at his affliction after being prayed for is sure to sink. You don't look at your affliction. You keep your eyes on the promise Giver, the Lord Jesus Christ. Keep your eyes on His Word. He's the One Who promised. He watches over It to perform it. And in this Saviour He was wounded for our transgressions, because God loved you. And God saw the afflictions of His people, and with His stripes you were healed, God's grace making a way, for His love required it.

His origin was to fellowship with God

Share
But now, we find out that what makes man long to fellowship is because that he once had a fellowship. And his fellowship was with God. A man today is trying his best, no matter what he is, if he's an Indian. When we come here we found an Indian worshipping the sun, worshipping a totem pole. We go into Africa we find them under little idols and things. There's somewhere he's trying to find his way back, because his origin was to fellowship with God. That's where it come from. He knows that he come from somewhere behind the curtain, and he's only trying to look back behind there to see where he come from and where he's on his road back. That's the reason the supernatural attracts the attention of the people so mightily is because men are looking from where they come from and which a way they're going. There's only one Book in the world can tell you that, that's the Bible, who you are, where you come from, and where you're going. That's exactly; It tells you your destination right there in the Bible and where you come from and who you are.

And every time when the sun comes up, did you ever notice how happy a little dewdrop was? He just sparkles and shines, and sparkles and shines. I was asking one, one morning, talking to nature, which is--was my first Bible. I said, "What makes you sparkle, little dewdrop?"
And it seemed like that something in a way spoke back to me, said, "You know last night, I was up there. And I'm--I know I'm going up again, for I belong up there, way beyond this old hot earth, up there where the--the moisture stays. 99. I'm inside of a Tower. I don't have no desires to even look out. "He that puts his hands to the plow, and even turns to look back, is not worthy of the plowing." What a place to come! Yes. Outside you die; inside you're safe. Just come in and let off the pressure. That's the thing to do. And Christ is our Tower, yes, God's provided place of safety. Joshua built those houses and those cities of refuge, and God built us a city of refuge, that's in His Son, Christ Jesus. "The Name of the Lord is the mighty Tower. The righteous run into it and are safe."
Now you say, "What if you get sick in there?"
100. He bore our sickness, in this Tower that we're in. He bore our sickness, in His body. We have...
101. "Well," you say, "what if you get weary when you're in there, all cares and things?"
102. Cast your cares upon Him. It's wrote on every wall, all the way around, every door. "Cast your cares upon Him, because He cares for you."
103. Trust in His promised Word. His Words are written on our heart. Our hearts are the tables of His Word, like Martha and Mary, and all along. See?

104. Even death itself doesn't worry you in here, when you're in the Lord. Why? He rose from the dead. We don't have no worry about that. Death comes, like the little sister we was speaking about there. If it's time to go, let's go. That's right.

There He is, going yonder to Calvary. As He's moving up the hill, and His poor, little shoulder rubbing, the old bee of death humming around Him, "It ain't going to be long till I'll get Him." Buzzing all around and around, and after while it had to sting Him. But, friend, you know, if a bee ever stings anybody deeply, he can't sting no more. He pulls his stinger out. So he hasn't got no more stinger. And I tell you, that's the reason God was made flesh, here on earth, in order to hold the stinger of death. And now the--death has no more sting. The bee can swarm and buzz, but he can't sting. "O death, where is thy sting? Grave, where is thy victory?" But Christ, the kinsman Redeemer has made a way of escape for every believer on this earth today. The bee might hum; the bee might buzz; the bee might try to make you afraid. But I can point yonder to Calvary, where God Himself was made flesh, when He held the stinger of death, and took my place as a sinner, and paid the price.

God brings tensions into the church, for every son that cometh to God must be tried, and proven, and tested. He lets sickness strikes you. He lets diseases come on you to test you and to prove you, to show the world that you're truly the seed of Abraham. He permits it by His own will. He permits disasters; He permits the friends to turn against you. He permits all these things, and turns the devil loose to tempt you, and he'll do all but take your life. He could throw you on a bed of affliction; he could turn your neighbors against you; he could turn the church against you; he can do most anything, and it's God's will for him to do it. And always a beast of burden in the Bible represents a power. Like the beast come up out of the sea in Revelations, it was a power that raised up among the people. And this beast was being watered. Rebekah watering the same beast that she rode on, that taken her away from her place here to her new home, is a type of the Church today, watering and blessing the same Holy Spirit that's going to lift It up and take It to Its new home. Notice. Now, Jesus, invested with all the powers of God, but when He met Satan, He never used any of His powers. He only referred to the Word. He did. Then how can you say you can stay home and be just as good a Christian as you would be at church? You can't do it. Read the Word. The Holy Spirit feeds on the Word. The Bible is God's spiritual diet for His church. And the Holy Spirit is the One Who brings It to you and places It in the heart; and with thanksgiving you water It. We're pictured one of the most saddest pictures of all the Bible, Revelations 3, at the Laodicea church. All the rest of the churches, through the Lutheran age, and the seven church ages, each one it didn't, it said about Jesus being in the church, "He that's in the church." But in Laodicea he was on the outside, knocking, trying to get back in. What a pitiful thing to think that, the Son of God, knocking on His Own church, trying to get back in. But the riches of this world has blinded their eyes. Not only rich in money, but rich in popularity, rich in the things of the world, the cares of life, until you've rubbed shoulders, and intellectual men has come in and taken away that Grain, that--that Pearl of great price. Jesus brought God to human lives. God was made human. When Jesus was born, God became man, that He might become fellowship with man and in man, to (what?) achieve one purpose; that is, to bring to man what God is; not what a church is, but what God is. Jesus came that He might present God to man. And man didn't want it. The Holy Spirit comes today in like manner to present God to man; but man wants to go to church. It--it--it drowns his--his--his thinking. He cannot--he cannot fathom it. And we must learn that God is not known by intellectual conception. God is known by the new birth, by the Holy Ghost, not by any other way. Jesus, the Bible has plainly quoted us that, "No man can call Jesus the Christ, only by the Holy Ghost." And if you've never received the Holy Ghost, you don't know that He is the Christ, for that's the only way He reveals Himself.

We don't know how it got there, but it got there, so that the just will not perish with the unjust. God's seeing to that today. Some way it slips in. They don't know how, though they won't sponsor it; but there is some seed out there that's predestinated.

Faith, designed to see what God wants

Share
Faith is designed to see what God wills and wants. There is no knowledge that can do that. Faith alone is designed and give to the human race to find out what the will of God is. And you take your faith that you've got and it don't focus with the Word, then leave it alone, you got the wrong faith. But when your God given faith focus you with the Word of God, you're directly in line and zeroed. Oh, my. God help us this hour, great hour that we live in. Faith, designed to see what God wants. How do you see it? Through the camera of His Word, His promise. This is a full revelation of Jesus Christ.

Now, Aaron as soon as the first manna fell, God told Aaron and Moses, "Go out there and pick up several omer's full of it and put it back in the holiest of holies, that when your children children, all that come into the priesthood, will get a taste of the original manna." Oh, what a privilege when a man become a priest... Now, remember outside of the holiest of holies, that was the only one that kept. It wouldn't keep twenty-four hours. It got worms in it. That's what's the matter with the Pentecostal church today. Amen. What's the matter? The experience you had a year ago has got wiggletails in it today; get rid of the thing, let's have one now. You know what them little termites or whatever it is wiggles around in them, broken cisterns, stagnated water... I know what I had yesterday. I know what I got today. Hallelujah. I'm looking for more of it. Lord, fill my soul every day. Yes, sir.

Be perseverant

Share
The people are not perseverant. If the Holy Spirit, if Jesus Christ, proves that He's here among us, then press till you get to Him. Like the little woman with the blood issue, and all of the different things that taken place, and all the adversaries in her way, she just pressed right on through till she touched Him. If this church tonight would do the same thing, would press through every scale of unbelief, would lock swords with the devil and his unbelief, and press through to know that you're a child of God and a heir to these things, and Jesus Christ standing present to show you that He's with you to keep His Word... Be perseverant; don't you let nothing stand in your way. I'm just wondering. If faith really anchors, could anything stand in your way? You don't get it. If you really got it, that would settle it. That's all.

God made them that way

When God made a man, he gave him... He let... The devil took his head. God chose his heart. The devil through his imagination makes him imagine anything--gives him intellectual conceptions of the Scripture. But God gets in his heart and leads him by the Spirit; makes him believe things that his intellectual don't know nothing about. Amen! That makes me feel a little religious when I think of that, see. When God gets a hold of a man, he comes into his heart. That's God's control tower. And the reason people drink, smoke, gamble, lie, steal, and carry on the way they do, they're trying to satisfy that longing in their heart. God made them that way, so He could come in there and satisfy every longing that you have. But, how dare anybody to try to hush that precious thing with the things of the world?

Because if we did, then it would not be of faith to us

Share
And sometimes we have more troubles when we become a Christian than we did when we were sinners. 'Course it is written, "Many is the afflictions of the righteous, but God delivereth him from them all." God promised many afflictions, strange feelings, and strange things that would be beyond our understanding, but it's always done for our good. Just can't understand it, because if we did, then it would not be of faith to us; we would go with an understanding. But we do it, and we have it, and we believe by faith His Word, that it's going to work some good thing for us.

Now, when He was here on earth, He said, "I came from God, and I go back to God." Now, when He led the children of Israel, He was the Pillar of Fire. And He was made flesh, then He returned back to that same Pillar of Fire. And when He met Paul on the road to Damascus, He was that Pillar of Fire, that Light, see, a great Light. And Paul said, "Who is It that I persecute?" He said, "I am Jesus, who you persecute," the Light. Oh, isn't He wonderful? And here He is, tonight, right here with us. Had His picture taken right there, the same Thing, see, Pillar of Fire, Light, just the same as He was, "Same yesterday, today, and forever."

So little friends, let me tell you something right now. My darling precious people, you here in this land, and the others in tape lands which will be overseas and wherever you are, don't be afraid. Everything's all right. Father God, before the foundation of the world, knew everything that would happen. Everything works right along. You love Him? Keep your heart right.

210. And, remember, when this breath passes from this life, to you old people, or to you young people... And you mothers, when you see your little babies, that little girl baby that died when she wasn't eight days old or five days old, she'll be a beautiful young woman when you see her. That old grandpa was all so stooped over; he couldn't hardly see where he was going; when you see him, grandmother, he'll be a fine handsome young man, just as young as about twenty years old, just in the splendor of youth. And he'll be that way forever. You'll can touch his hand; you can shake hands with him. You'll throw your arms around him, but he won't be hubby; he'll be brother. Oh, my. He'll be so much greater than hubby. You think you loved him? Sure you did. But that was phileo; wait till you get agapao. Wait till that real Divine love catches, and then see what is.

We are living images of a living God. Then dead to self, raised with Him (Now, listen, listen to this.), His Word made flesh again in us. (O Brother Neville...) Look. What is it? Not the mythical, imaginary god setting out there, but the living God... What is the living God? The Word in you making Itself real. Whew. Glory to God. Oh, I know you think I'm a holy-roller. Maybe I am. But, oh, brother, do you see it? Triumph over every denomination, triumph over all paganism, a living God made manifest in a living temple. And the Word of God, which is God, is made flesh in you. Why? You're seated in Heavenly places, triumphed over all things in Christ Jesus.

When you said, "Mountain, move," maybe one little significant grain of sand turned loose out of the hundreds of billions and billions of tons. One little grain moved, but it's begin to take place. Hold that faith and watch that mountain disappear. Certainly. Thou shall say in thy heart, "Disease, move from my child. Disease, move from my body in the Name of the Lord Jesus," and don't doubt. Right there the good germs take on a new armor and a new weapon, and the enemy begins to back up. He's got something in him that wars

A hybrid plant, you have to baby it, and spray it, and keep the bugs and beetles off of it, but not a genuine healthy plant. He's sturdy, strong. Don't no bugs come on him. He's got enough in him to throw the bug off. So is a genuine Christian. You don't have to baby him, and pat him, and tell him this, that, or the other. He's got something in him (the baptism of the Holy Ghost) that throws all the rest of it off. You don't have to beg him around, because he's a genuine plant of God. He's got something in him that wars. A Christian fights for every inch of ground he stands on. He must do that if he ever expects to exist. And by doing it, there's something in him that takes care of him. Eve tried to hybrid the Word. In the beginning God told her, "The day you eat thereof, that day you die." She tried to breed it in with knowledge that Satan give her. And when she did, she lost the whole human race right there to the devil, when she tried to mix God's unadulterated Word with knowledge. It doesn't come from the knowledge of the world. It comes by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We've got to work according to God's program

Share
God dwelling in Christ used His voice to speak by. Jesus said in His miracle, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing in Himself, but what He sees the Father doing, that doeth the Son likewise." Is that right? Saint John 5:19. Then He did not do nothing within Himself. No prophet ever did anything within himself, until first God showed what to do. What a mistake Moses made when he went out without the vision of God and smote down the Egyptian, thought he'd liberate them with his hands, because he thought he had a lot of faith and could do it, because he was called for the job. No matter how much you're called for the job, God has to do the leading. See? He failed of all of his schooling and his military mind and his training as a great Egyptian leader. But yet it failed, 'cause God had a program and we've got to work according to God's program. No matter what we do, how smart we are, we've got to humble ourselves and work according to God's program. Amen.

Too much scrupled up. He's got to get one man completely surrendered and use that person. He searches for that person, but there will be one sometime, somebody who will listen to Him word by word. I don't care what anybody else says, they'll never move from it. That's right. They'll wait on, THUS SAITH THE LORD, and then--they won't move until then. He will be properly a-vindicated. You'll... Now, the outside world will hate it, but the elected seed, the predestinated seed, like there was in the days of Jesus, when that Light flashes, that seed will come to Life like that. So few of professed Christians today in our land knows so little about God. Oh, they know all their religions, but to know God. Humbled Himself, and that's what makes Him great to me. That's what makes Him real to me is to think that He was willing to come down here and not be some great somebody, take some great name, or something like that. He made Himself humble and become a servant to all of them. That's my Lord Jesus. That's the One I love; that's the One, I'm--want to give my life entirely to serve Him, and to work for Him, and do everything I can to get people to look at Him, and believe Him, and love Him. He's lovely. He's precious. Becoming a footwasher, taking the towel and girded Himself and washed the disciples' feet, said, "Let him that's great among you be the servant of all." Go into the secret closet and close the door, when the kids gets at school. There get down on your knees. You've heard all kinds of voices everywhere. But just get down and stay there until those voices are silenced and you begin to lift up. It'll change you. It'll make you different like it did this little Samuel. Stay right with it

Refuse to sign for anything the devil brings. He will have to take it back. Say, "I refuse to have it. I just won't have it, no, sir." He will have to take it back in the Name of the Lord. If you believe it, and confess it, and say, "I've accept Jesus Christ as my Healer," there's no affliction or disease can stay on you. Stay right with it.
But the first time that you get weak and say, "Well, yes, I've still got it." Then you drop right down to where you was at. You signed for it, then took it back. Say, "Yes, Mr. Devil, I--I'll have it back." Oh, brother.

You stand right there as--as long as there's a breath in your body, say, "I refuse to have it. I refuse to have it." How do you feeling? "Wonderful, hallelujah." That's it. That's right. Show the devil what you're made out of; you're borned again by the Spirit of God, and you don't have to bow down to his images. Stay right there, say, "I don't want your stuff."
"Why, here's your name on it, the doctor said..."
"I don't care what he said. I know what God said. Get away from here with it."
That's right, that's the way to treat him; hand it back. He was the one give it to you, he will have to be the one take it back.

It's a unconscious faith

Share
I'm positive that many times in people's thinking, that they try to make Divine healing and so forth, some great outreaching something, way away, "If I could only reach it." Could you imagine Jesus saying, "Now, let Me check My faith, and see if I've got enough faith to do this, see if I'll have to fast awhile to see if I'll have enough faith to do this." He was perfectly unconscious of the faith that He had. He just spoke it and knew that it would be so. Just like you come from your homes today, you probably want to return to your home, told your wife or your loved ones, "I'll be back sometime right after noon." How do you know you are? You don't try to wonder, "Have I got faith enough to go home? Have I got faith enough to drive my car? You just unconsciously turn your key on, drive on away and go home. See? It's a unconscious faith that does it. That's the way it is: in Christ we just unconsciously just say, "That's His word; that just settles it; there's no more to it." and go on.

And God has His program, and He will set you and place you in Christ, just where He thinks you'll work best for Him, if you'll just stay in your calling. Don't try to get somebody else's calling. Stay in your own calling. If you're a housewife, remain a housewife. Whatever God's called you to do, just remain there. He knows where to put His hand on you and use you. He had a little, old woman named Hannah, one time, little housewife. He knowed where to place her, what He was going to do with her. He had one named Mary, one time. Oh, my, He will just do with you whatever He wants to do, if you'll just let Him do it. Just be humble, submit yourself to Him, and walk on.

It's always a one-man message

But there arose up in the wilderness, one by the name of--of Dathan and one by the name of Korah. And they said, "This has got to be a one-man affair. Moses thinks he's the only one God's called." That one-man message, they didn't want it. No, they didn't want It. And God never did deal but with one person at a time. It's always a one-man message. When did ever He deal with the people, outside of just one person? It's an individual. It ain't a group. You're responsible to God, each one of you. You say, "Oh, I believe it." You just... What you do, you just entertain it. You entertain a thought.

Share
God's working all things together for the good to them that love Him, and how can you lose? You just can't lose; there's no way of losing. The Church could just really find that out. If you could positionally find your place in Christ, then all these other things would just fade away like a shadow. Every one that cometh to God, that's true, must have the shadows, and temptations, and fears, and so forth, but just don't get all tore up about it. What's a little suffering for a little while, knowing that the glory of God will be revealed in the last days when Jesus comes, when we'll be made like unto Him? He's just working everything together. Did you know, maybe if you were sick, or something happened to you, that God might've had to do that just to bring you a little closer to Him?

Isn't He wonderful?

Share
There was probably ten or fifteen men with him. Did any of those men see that Light? No, sir. Paul saw It. It wasn't designated for them men to see It. So, some people can see things, where, others don't. See? So, Paul saw that Light, insomuch that It even blinded him. He couldn't see, for several days, It was such a reality to him. And he couldn't see for several...

Later on, when he wrote letters, his eyes bothered him so bad from that, until he wrote with great big letters. He said, "Seeing that I have written to you with large letters." He couldn't hardly see.

He was in jail, and he asked the Lord to heal him of it. And he consulted Him three times. But what did the Lord say? "My grace is sufficient, Paul."

Paul said, "Then will I glory in my infirmities." Because, he said, "Except I would be exalted above the abundance of the Revelation, there was given to me a messenger of the Devil, a thorn in the flesh, that buffet me." He'd get better for a while, and then away they go again. Buffet mean "blow after blow." Like the ship on the sea, you know, the waves buffet it, see, blow after blow.

And he would, he'd get better, and then have it again; then get better, have it again. He said, "Lord, what's the matter, You don't take this away from me?"

He said, "My grace is sufficient, Paul. Just keep on." It'd keep...

He said, "Now, if--if I was just perfect, and everything perfect," said, "then when I went along, oh, I'd get puffed up and say, 'You see, nothing wrong with me. Lord takes care of me, brother. Hallelujah!'" Then you're getting self-righteous.

God has to give you a little something, once in a while, to kind of meeken you up a little, you know. That's right. Kind of make you realize that He's the Boss. Oh, isn't He wonderful? Yes, sir, just glory!

Prayer changes things

Now, look what prayer does. Prayer changed from death to life. God had said, "The man's going to die." And I believe Isaiah told the truth. He was borned a prophet, and his words were true and came from God. And then Hezekiah's prayer changed the opinion of God. Oh, my. I like that. Prayer changes things. It's the most powerful force that God ever put in the hands of man, is a sincere prayer offered to God. Jesus said, "Whatever you ask the Father in My Name, that I'll do." Believe it. Try it once, and see if it isn't true.

When you're filled with God, you're filled with the Holy Ghost, you're filled with power, you're filled with love, with joy, with peace, with longsuffering, with goodness, with meekness, with gentleness, with worship. We're eternal with the eternal

Share
Think of it. God, on the day of Pentecost, that Pillar of Fire separated and tongues of fire set upon each of them, God separating Himself in--dividing Himself, amongst His people. We become God's own Life in us. Then we are dead to the things of the world, and have risen with Christ and setting in heavenly places, looking back to where we come from. It's enough that we could think of that. And it lets off the pressure, takes the pressure away when we recognize the position that we now hold in Christ by receiving the Holy Spirit--God's own Life (The Greek word "Zoe" which means God's own Life.) dwelling in you. And you can no more die than God can die. We're eternal with the eternal (Amen.), waiting for that glorious time of redemption of the body. And now we are already dead, and our lives are hid in God through Christ and sealed by the Holy Spirit. The devil is out of the picture altogether.

A word is a thought expressed

Remember, a word is a thought expressed. God thought it. Then when He expressed it, it has to happen, for the world was framed by the Word of God. And things were made out of things that do not appear. It was God's Word. He thought it, and He spoke it, and it has to come to pass. It's a seed that's growing, and, marvelously, that has to bring forth its season. We can take His Word, and see that He promised in the last days that He'd draw this people out; and do the very same thing He did, like He did in the days of Sodom. And we look at it and see these things. We ought to take a hold of the promise of God, and come to Him, seeing that we've anchored our souls in this haven of rest.

So don't say nothing about Christians. Maybe some of them don't live just right, or do just right, but that--that's God's child. Let--let the Father take care of His own kiddies. You know? If we go to fighting one another, God give us both a whipping, maybe. So let's--let's just leave the other fellow alone and pray for him. Try to love him and correct him and maybe God will help him.

Jesus, our Lord, said, "As it was in the days of Lot, so shall it be at the coming." Watch. When the Son of man is being manifested, made known (Luke 17), when the Son of man in the last days is being revealed, the Son of man being revealed, this Gospel is identifying Him. As it was in the days of Lot... Look how they're doing now. Perverted nations (Oh, my.), look at the homosexuals, and look at what we got now. The church is a mess; the nation is a mess, and the whole thing... God's belching it up from the top--bottom of the earth. The whole thing is a mess geographically, and also in the material. The scene is set. Isn't it time for God to come back in human flesh, the Word that's sharper than a two-edged sword, and a Discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart, to appear on the scene, to make Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever? It's a promised Word that's been 'lotted for this day. We're living in this day, and God is here with us to manifest that and make it true.

I like something that's got some courage. I just despise a coward. Don't you? Someone who's afraid... Stand up there. If you got the right stuff behind you; stand for what you think is right. Be not only willing to live for it, die for it, or anything. If it's right, it's right. Other men has died for what's right. And so, that's the way with the Gospel. If I didn't think it was right, and I didn't believe He was the Son of God, I'd be against Him. I'd be out here saying everything I could against Him, because I wouldn't think it was right. But I know He's right. And so therefore I'm... I believe it with all my heart. And if--and if just part of this is right, and the rest of it's not right, then it--it's none of it right. It's either all right or all wrong. And every word is true. You can hang your soul on any phase of the Gospel and believe it; for it's every bit truth.

It is the acts of the Holy Spirit in the church

If the first branch of the vine brought forth a Pentecostal church, every real branch out of that vine will bring forth another Pentecostal church. But we got a lot of grafted branches, and they bring forth after their kind. We got Methodist branch grafted into it, Baptist branch, Pentecostal branch, every other kind of branch. It bears its own fruit. You can take a orange tree and put a grapefruit in it. It'll live off the life of that tree, but it'll bear grapefruit. Put a lemon in there, it'll bear lemon, not an orange, yet it's living off of orange life. See, any citrus fruit... Any church professing to be Christian thrives off of the glory and praises of Christ. But it can't bear the fruit. It won't bear the Life of Christ until Christ puts forth that branch Himself. Then it'll--it'll write another Book of Acts behind it (that's right), because it is the acts of the Holy Spirit in the church. See? That's the way it is tonight, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.

There you'll remain for a million years, and I'll make you the king over all the universe. Everything will be at your command. Or I'll give you a hundred years of misery and woe, and trouble, and sorrow, but at the end of that hundred years, I'll give you Eternal Life. But the end of the million years, you are lost." Oh, I'd say, "Lord God, I don't have to wait any longer to make my choice. Let me have the hundred years of misery and woe, any kind of a death that you choose for me to die, only, Lord, give me Eternal Life. For though I own the whole world and was king for a million years, at the end of that million years, I become a hell bound creature for eternity. But no matter how bad my lot is here, at the end of my life, if I've got Eternal Life, I live on in the blessed Presence of God forever and forever."

Just be what you are

Share
"Who, taking thought, can add one cubit to his statue?" said Jesus. We are what we are. And that's one thing that has hurt our Pentecostal move and other moves, is somebody trying to be something that they're not. They are trying to impersonate someone else. You can't do that. You're just what you are; that's all. And when you do that, God will use you in just what you are. And you're just as important as anybody else. As I said the other night, the little bitty hairspring in this watch is just as important as the mainspring, 'cause it takes it all together to make time. And that... When we realize our position in Christ and then abide in that, if it's just a little housewife, stay right there. That's what God wants you to do. See? Just be what you are.

These things are hidden food

Share
The Message and the Word was exactly the same thing. The prophet, the Word, the Message; messenger, Message, and man was the same. Jesus said, "If I do not the works that's written of Me, then don't believe Me." That's good. Any man and his message is one. That's why today that they do not believe in doing the works of God, because they do not accept the Message of God. They don't believe the Message. But those who believe God's hour that we're living in, these things are hidden food. Just think. God has so hid it that they look right at it and don't see it. The same way that Elijah blinded the Syrian army, the same way that God blinds the unbeliever from the true genuine Food of the child, the believer.

But there were signs and wonders accompanying Him

Share
Now, as a preacher I don't think that Jesus was a great outstanding forceful preacher. John the baptist was a preacher, but he done no signs at all. He never performed a miracle. But Jesus come by not preaching so forceful as John, but there were signs and wonders accompanying Him. He said, "If you can't believe Me believe the works that I do. If you can't believe Me believe the a vindication that the Father has given of Me, for the works that I do, the same testify that the Father has sent Me." What a statement. Think of it. "The works that I do testify that the Father has sent Me." Man can make any kind of a statement, but if God don't back that statement up, you've got a right to say it's wrong. But when God comes around and confirms that statement to be the truth then it's sin to disbelieve it. For what is sin? Sin is one thing: "unbelief."

But they had to have the Holy Ghost for power

Share
Holy Ghost is power for service. So when talk about you got to be born again, and applying that to the Holy Ghost, many of the Methodists and so forth are wrong there. It cannot. It just won't cope through the Scripture here. You get the thing sideways. It's got to take it the way the Scripture's got it placed out here. See? And the Holy Spirit is a... "You shall receive the new Birth after this"? What? No. "You shall receive power," Acts 1:8, "after this the Holy Ghost is come upon you." See? And they had already believed to Eternal Life, and so forth, but they had to have the Holy Ghost for power. "You shall be witnesses unto Me after the Holy Ghost is come upon you," because the Holy Ghost is a witness of the resurrection, showing that you have become an adult in Christ.

I want to see what I own

Share
If I fell heir to a house, I sure wouldn't want to move into it till I got and looked everything over. I want to see what's mine. I want to see what I own. And when I fell heir to the Kingdom of God, to the righteousness of Jesus Christ, baptized into this great arcade of God's eternal blessings, I like to walk around and see what's mine (Amen.), look on the shelves see what this is. Here it is, every promise in the Book belongs to every believer. Don't you stand still for somebody to push you off in a corner, give you a little cold tater, and tell you to wait. Don't you listen to that stuff. God's promise is right now. Push you off in a millennium somewhere... The Bible said, "Now we are the sons of God." What we will be, we are now, present tense.

That's what we need today

Share
It's the atmosphere that does it. You can take a hen egg and put it in a incubator and keep the atmosphere right it'll hatch out a chicken not an incubator. See? Because that it's the atmosphere that counts. Put a chicken egg under a--a dog. It'll hatch a chicken. It's the atmosphere. And that's what it takes in the church today, not so much starchy creed and theology, but the Spirit of the living God pouring down upon His people to bring a spiritual atmosphere. Not one saying, "I believe it's this," and another one, "I believe it's that." It's hard for the Holy Spirit to work. Do you know when the Holy Spirit first came? It was on the day of Pentecost, when they were in all in one place and one accord. And then there came from heaven a sound like a rushing mighty wind. They had to get the atmosphere right. And that's what we need today, brethren. We're way behind. The church ought to be a million miles up the road.

Take Him at His Word and start testifying about it

Share
47. She believed Him. She didn't question. She believed Him. Said, "The Holy Ghost will overshadow thee, and that holy Thing which is born of thee shall be called the Son of God."

She said, "Be it unto me according to thy words."

And right away she started testifying and telling people that she was going to have a baby, knowing no man, before the baby ever was born. Before she felt anything, before there was any life, any evidence at all, she went testifying that it was so. God give us some more Marys around Erie here, that can take God at His Word. Before you see, feel anything, take Him at His Word. Hallelujah.

Oh, my. I feel pretty good. Don't think I'm crazy. If I am, I'm happy; just let me alone then. All right.

48. Oh, brother. Anyone that'll dare to take God at His Word, God said so. She said it's so and went to testifying of it. If God said that He would heal you if you believed Him, take His Word. Don't look how crippled you are, how blind you are. Take Him at His Word and start testifying about it. God's under obligation to bring it to pass. Amen. All right.

That's better than comfort and peace

41. Satan could not take them. He could not drown Noah in the flood, until the purpose of God had been finished. He could not burn up the Hebrew children until the purpose of God had been finished. He could not kill Job with boils and troubles until the purpose of God had been finished. Neither could the lions eat Daniel until God's purpose had been finished. Neither could death and old age take Abraham until the purpose of God had been finished. And neither can it take you, or can it take me until the purpose of God of our life is finished. So we gather from their consolation.

43. And why does God let troubles come? God harnesses trouble, puts bits in its mouth, and makes it obey Him, and those troubles bring us into a closer fellowship with God.
There had been no rainbow until the flood came. But after Noah was pressed into that condition that he was in, to float forty days and nights in a storm and the little ark pitching up and down in the water, it was after the flood was over that he saw the rainbow for its first time, the covenant of hope, the covenant of promise. After he'd went through the tribulation, then he saw the promise.
That's the way you see the promise, after you've gone through the tribulation. I've liked that poem, or psalm:

Must I be carried home to Heaven on a flowerly bed of ease,
While others fought to win the prize and sailed through bloody seas?

We ask for comfort and peace; God gives us the best He could give us: trials and tribulations. That's better than comfort and peace. Our comforts is just beyond the river.

You're going to have to take it

Share
We're on the border land tonight. The Bible said, "I would above all things you prosper in health." It's yours. God promised it. And the promise to you is just as good as it was to Israel. He said, "I have given you that land. I will send My angel, this Pillar of Fire, before you to guide you to the place." Divine healing's yours, God promised it to you. He sent the Holy Ghost, has guided you to this place. Let's take it. Amen, it's ours. Same God made the promise to Israel made it to you, and He's the same yesterday, today and forever. Sends the same signs, wonders and miracles. Now, He ain't going to come just push it down you. You're going to have to take it. And as soon as you claim it, there'll stand an old Ammorite standing there; kick him out of the way.

Then you'll be getting close to Divine healing

Share
38. Whosoever is borned of the Spirit of God is God's, and you're come in by the promise through the covenant God made to Abraham, His promise that He would send Christ. And if you're in Christ, you're part of that covenant. And the promises... You say, "I'm not worthy." Neither was Abraham. Nobody's worthy. It ain't how worthy you are; it's what God promised you.
I'm not worthy to stand up here, but He called me to do it. You're not worthy to be a Christian, but God made you one. This temple is not worthy to set on this ground, but God set it here. That's it. It ain't what you are; it's what He is.
Everybody's always looking at theirself. Why you can't look at yourself and get anywhere. You are finished to begin with. You're a failure to start with. There's nothing to you to begin with. It's what God made you, is what you are.

39. Under the old covenant... What if a little mule would be borned out in the pasture some night, and when that little mule was born he'd turn around, and his mammy would look at him, and his ears would be flopped down. You know what a flop-eared mule is? Being a farmer, that mule's no good. And he's cross-eyed. His knees are not together. His tail sticks straight up in the air. Well, he's the horriblest looking sight you ever seen. That little fellow could look around to his mammy and say, "Well, I won't be able to live. No, sir. 'Cause as soon as the master comes out here, he will knock me in the head, 'cause I ain't worth nothing."
That's just about like every one of us. But his mother, well instructed to the Word of God, she'd say, "Wait a minute, honey. No, no, you are born under a birthright. When the man of the house comes out, he will go to the pasture and hunt the most perfect lamb that he's got. The high priest will never see you; he will see the lamb. He won't examine you; he will examine the lamb, because you're born under a birthright. The lamb has to die for you."

40. Now, you look at Jesus and find any fault in Him. Don't look at yourself; look at Him. Don't look who you are; look Who He is. Then you'll be getting close to Divine healing. Search your sacrifice over. If you can find any fault in that, well, that's--that's different, then you have a right to disbelieve. But there's no fault in Him. God don't look at you; He looked at the sacrifice.
There was a perfect One died for us faultry ones, we who are disfigured, and immoral, and ugly, and everything. But He took the perfect One and looked Him all over. "This is My beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased." He was the sacrifice. God accepted Him. So ours is finished. All we have to do is walk in grace.

It was a Scriptural promise

Share
Moses had maybe never heard the voice of God, but he knowed by intellectual, he knowed by a feeling inside of him, that he was the deliverer. But he tried to do it and failed, so he said, "Maybe I made a mistake." There might be preachers setting out here the same way, that thought you made a mistake, when you found your failure. You just never waited long enough. The Bible said, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength... mount up with wings like an eagle." Moses thought that maybe he'd missed his calling. But one day when God spoke to him face to face, and he heard the Word of God, my Angel spoke to him, and it co--coincides with the Word... When he saw that the voice that spoke to him was the same thing the Word had promised, then he had faith, and he was certain that he was going down there; he was certain Israel was going to come out from under the bondage, because God made the promise. It was a Scriptural promise.
