He's a businessman

Share
Jesus knew, before these apostles could ever go out and be a correct witness, that they had to experience what they were witnessing about. Wouldn't that be nice today, if every seminary did the same thing, if every Christian did the same thing? Would just come to church and say, "Now, I'm accepting Jesus as my personal Saviour. I'm going to stay right here till I get the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and then I'm going out to be a witness." See? Things would be different, don't you think so? We wouldn't have that loose, scattered testimonies. People testify and say they're a Christian, and go out and live other lives. And the unbeliever comes in and sees that, he say, "Well, look at there. Is that the way they..." And the devil will always point them out too. You can just depend on that. He's a businessman. And don't underestimate his ability in his business realms, because he knows what it's all about.

It's an individual affair

Share
The Bible said no man can say Jesus is the Christ, only by the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost has to witness it to you: must be a personal experience. I hope you see that. No matter how much you go to church, how well your name is engraved on its stained windows, or whatmore, or on its book, it'll never mean nothing to you, until you are a witness of the resurrection of Jesus Christ by the infilling of the power of the Holy Spirit. You are taking somebody else's word. Why, I'd say... "Well, Brother Branham, I know that Jesus is the Christ, 'cause the Bible said so." The Bible is right, but what do you know about it? See? It's an individual affair with every individual. It must be a personal witness that every person must have in order to know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, is when His Spirit bears record with your spirit, in an experience of the new birth, borned again and you cry, "Abba, Father."

I wish I could've took his place

Share
Now, how did it happen? How could it be? How did that flunky ever let Jesus get by? Here He is, setting at the supper, at the dinner, with unwashed feet. He's sitting over in the corner. Oooh, I wish I could've been that flunky. I wish I could've took his place. Here's Jesus, somehow... Oh, he got Dr. Jones' feet, certainly. He got all the rest of them. He washed them and anointed them. Simon kissed him welcome. And there they are, standing over there, so entertained. "Oh, Dr. Jones, you know what? Over at the so-and-so, the other day, Pharisee So-and-so... Do you remember Pharisee So-and-so? You remember?" Oh, so busy talking about the affairs, till they failed to see Jesus come in. And I wonder, today, if we're not so interested whether we are Methodist, or Baptist, or Presbyterian, we failed to see Jesus come in. O God, have mercy.

You just believe me with all your heart

68. These artists, a bunch of artists, went to Rome to study art. All of them would go out of nighttime, most all of them, and get on a big drunk, boys and girls, and lay out together just as a--some of the modern Americans do. Layout...
I went to a place, here in this very state, where they was having a convention. And I never was so embarrassed in all my life. There's a great big fellow setting up there with a big hat on, all flowered up like this, and all kinds of robes, and things on. And the little boys and girls of sixteen, seventeen years old, sleeping together in the hotel room. The next morning, all of them coming down, bowing down and "Father So-and-so..." Oh, my, just to think; perverting them poor children's mind into such stuff as that, when God raised them to be sons and daughters of God, to be pure and holy, sanctified by the power of God, washed in the Blood of the Lamb.

69. I know that makes people hate me sometimes, but you'll love me when I meet you over yonder. I'll tell you the truth; it's a foundation. If it... No matter what it cost, that... You'll be sincere. And tell the truth. Recognize it to be God. "Be holy for I am holy," He said. Quit living in sin.
These people'd go out and drink and carry on. But one young man they noticed. That young man, he didn't carry on like that. He lived clean; at nighttime he come home and went to bed. He lived like a gentleman should live. And one day the old caretaker said, "I like to take a walk with you, son."
He said, "All right." They started up the hill, walking together towards the setting of the sun.
And he said, "Young fellow, you came over with that bunch of Americans, didn't you?"
And he said, "Yes, sir, I did."
He said, "I want to ask you something."
He said, "All right."
He said, "Why is it that you don't go out, and drink, and carry on and lay out with the girls, and things, all through the night, and come in the next morning the way they do?"
He stopped, put his arm around the old man. He said, "You see the way that sun is setting yonder in the west?"
He said, "Yes, sir, I do."
He said, "Beyond that setting of the sun, there's a certain state, in the New England states." And said, "In that certain state is a certain city. And in that certain city, is a certain house. And in that certain house, is a girl. And that girl, I vowed before I come here, to be true to her that when we--I return, we're going to be married. She made a vow to me, a promise. Therefore, sir, all of my attention is attracted, as far as it comes to women, towards that girl at that place." And he said, "I live today, for tomorrow to come." What a testimony.

70. What a Christian can say. Why don't you smoke? Why don't you have a little fun? Why don't you do this like the rest of them doing?
Oh, you can say, "Beyond a certain star, there's a certain city. And in that certain city is a certain Person. Hallelujah. Oh, I live for Him, for He died for me. And someday He's coming. And I live for that Life that is to come."
Oh, brother, believe me; I tell you the truth. I tell you what is the truth. God knows that I'm telling you the truth. You just believe me with all your heart.

Now, they got a man whirling around in space. They all holler about that you know: "We got a man in space." Why, that's nothing. We Christians have had one in space for two thousand years. That's right. They're...?... hollering about that. That's nothing new. That's old to us; we knowed that all along. So, see? See, that's just how far ahead we are. They just don't realize it. Yes, building great big roads and super things like that and trying to make the earth a better place and so forth; they don't realize that the meek's going to inherit it. So there--there you are. So just--just... See, God's got it all figured out for us. That's only thing we have to do, is just hold onto Him and just go right on. See? That's, all believing. That's all He asked us to do. He will take us right through.

He was the Light of the world

Share
And the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ that has descended upon the Church to continue the works of the Lord Jesus in His going away. It is to give the Gospel Light in a lesser Light than it was when Christ was here. Like the moon and the sun, the moon comes up to give a light in the absence of the sun, until it can rise again. Then the moon goes out. And the sun is such a brighter light that it puts out the moonlight. But what is the moonlight? It's a reflection of the sun on the moon. And that is like Christ. When He was here, He was the Light of the world. He went away and shining back on His Church to reflect His Light into this world today for a Light to walk in until He returns, and then all in all will be given unto Him. And He will sit on the throne of King David and reign forever and forever.

It's a submitted heart to God, is where God works

Brother, sister, I say this humbly and for not to be a pulling or trying to get sympathy. The clothes that I have is clothes people give me. The suit I got on, Brother Moore was with me, and I got it four years ago in Sweden. Pair of shoes, my wife bought it for me. I got another suit over there was give to me in Florida. Another one I got in Finland; two I got in Germany, or not Germany, but Africa. That's where the clothes comes from. It's what people give me. Some of them's hand me down. That's true. I got a suit from California about five years ago and been wearing it ever since. And it--it's about six, seven years old when I got it. But what is it? It's good enough. He didn't even have but one garment and borrowed somebody's grave to be laid in. I could've been pretty well off if I'd took all the money people had offered me, but I want to be just as poor as those who come to be prayed for. We're fellow citizens of the kingdom of God. I'm not saying that just to be saying. I'm saying it because I want you to know, friends, that the kingdom of God does not consist of riches in this earth, fine clothes. It's a submitted heart to God, is where God works.

We got it now

Now, I'm going to shock you a little bit. You don't mind, do you? All right. For instance, the meat's a frying, and all at once the grease pops out on your hand. Now, if you'll just shake it off and go on frying meat, it wouldn't bother you. Now, I know you didn't get that just right. Look. The first thing, "Oh, where the Ungantene?" Something... You see, grab you hand. See, see? It scares you to death. That's what does it. It's fear. Peter walking on the water. He was walking all right, till he seen the waves contrary and he got scared. Jesus said, "Why'd you fear?" That's what's the matter with the Holy Ghost people today. They've got a lot afraid... The devil's just trying to scare you out of something. He's trying to put something off somewhere else, say, "Some of these days you'll be this." You are now. Now, we're sons of God. Now, we're seated together in heavenly places. Now, we have all powers in heavens and the earth. See? Now, we have it. Not in the millennium, we won't need it then. We got it now. We're... Right now we are the sons of God.

You create that atmosphere

Share
Now, in Jesus was God. God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, and these people believed His testimony. And them that did truly believe it could draw God's blessings from Him. And when they did so, He said virtue went from Him. Virtue is strength. He... In other words, if we'd say it today, he got weak when the people drawed off of Him. Well, if it worked that way in that human body, it'll work in another human body. And we create a--our atmosphere around us, each one of us. You've been with people that were nice people, but you just couldn't hardly be around them. Then you've been with other people that you just loved to be around them. You create that atmosphere. And, oh, wouldn't you have loved to have been around Jesus just a... Wonderful. See what that atmosphere He created would've been. I imagine it was just one great big bundle of love, and respects, and godly fear.

How are you going to get there anything short of it?

Share
Oh, God wants to restore the faith that was once delivered to the saints. You say, "Brother Branham, is that the faith?" Don't take the Me--Methodist ritual, the Baptist ritual, or the Pentecostal ritual; take the Bible. Let's see what they did. They were all in the upper room with one accord, and suddenly, the same rushing wind come from heaven, filled all the house where they was setting. What'd you say? They said, "Ohhh, I don't know whether to do this or not. If I go outside, they'll make fun of me. If I say anything, 'Why, he said to go out." No, sir. The Holy Ghost met them, that bunch of little cowards. They got life and went through windows and doors, out into the street, and acted like a bunch of maniacs, and staggered and screamed and hollered and everything, like a bunch of drunk people; till the ritualistic church of that day said, "These men are full of new wine." And listen, sister, you that's so dignified at the sewing circle in your church, and so forth, and got such a social standing in Louisville, New Albany, and Jeffersonville, the blessed virgin Mary was in there. And if God Almighty required blessed virgin Mary, and wouldn't let her come to heaven till she got that experience, how are you going to get there anything short of it?

Believe that

Same thing about the Holy Spirit. You say, "I've been seeking for the Holy Ghost for years." I'm not scolding you. You're either mistaught, or something's wrong, or you don't understand. God is under obligation to His Word. Peter said on the Day of Pentecost, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." That's the Scripture, just as clear as I know how to read it. If you repented and are baptized, then God's under obligation, if your faith is right towards God to give you the Holy Ghost the minute that you obey His Word. Believe that. God will vindicate it to you. If your heart's really right before God, and you're taught right, and believing it, and walk up there with the assurance, something's going to happen, 'cause God's more willing to give you the Holy Ghost than you are willing to accept It.

Jesus lives and reigns within the heart

Share
That's the way it is with every man or woman, when he's born of the Spirit of God and sees the true resurrection. No man knows that Jesus is resurrected from the dead, unless he's died, himself, in Christ Jesus, and been borned again, anew by the Holy Ghost. Every man is only a theologically believing, he's only materially believing, he's only looking at it on paper, until the Holy Spirit's bore record of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. You, from the dead things of life, unto a new and living hope in Christ Jesus... Every man or woman without that is lost this morning. That's right. Oh, my brother, sister, get right with God. Get that heart cleaned out, to where joy bells of heaven rings, and there's a resurrection; Jesus lives and reigns within the heart.

He died for sinners

Share
99. Now, I want to say this right now: the Blood of Jesus Christ is all-sufficient. See? Christ never died for them Seraphims. No, no. But they were created beings; He never died for Angels; He died for sinners. See? He never died for holy people; he died for unholy. And long as you think you're holy, He never done you no good. But when you realize you're nothing, then He died--He died for you. See? When you realize that you're nothing, then He's the One--you was the one He died for. God's all holy. There's nothing to Him but holiness; that's all, purity.
